    25 The Tragically Hip

What was the first song you ever heard by 6?
Oh, man. First Frank Sinatra song?! I have no way of remembering that. I'm going to say either "Fly Me To The Moon" or "New York, New York" because those are both really famous.

What is your favourite album by 2?
I love both of the Michigan albums. I have the "extras" CD in my car and I listen to it all the time.

What is your favourite lyric that 1 has sung?
OMG. ONE FAVOURITE DECEMBERISTS LYRIC. I CANNOT CHOOSE, OKAY. Like, the entirety of "On The Bus Mall", "Shiny", "Red Right Ankle", "California One / Youth And Beauty Brigade", ETC. DO YOU SEE HOW DIFFICULT THIS IS FOR ME?

How many times have you seen 11 live?
Once! Way back when he was just starting out. AW, OWEN PALLETT. <3

What is your favorite song by 7?
"The Bleeding Heart Show". That song is all kinds of fabulous.

What is a good memory you have involving 20?
omg. Um, so many. The Beatles were my introduction to a better taste in music, basically. One good memory I have is watching the "Real Love" music video over and over on the Anthology DVD set and trying not to burst into tears.

Is there a song by 3 that makes you sad?
Yeah. "La Parade" is quite sad and beautiful.

What is your favorite lyric that 14 has sung?
Haha, the Go! Team is totally not about lyrics. I'm going to say "INTRODUCING MYSELF, MC LISA LEE" because I want to change my name to MC Lisa Lee.

What is your favorite song by 19?
Oh gosh, I don't know. "A Nervous Tic Motion Of The Head To The Left", maybe. Or "Fake Palindromes". Or "Plasticities".

How did you first get into 22?
Um, I grew up listening to his records. "Space Oddity" was one of my favourite songs as a kid. I'd put on this gold ballerina outfit and dance around the living room while listening to David Bowie records.

What was the first song you heard by 21?
    "Maple Leaves". SO gorgeous.

What is your favorite song by 4?
"The Magic Position", maybe. He has lots of beautiful songs, though.

What is a good memory you have involving 13?
I remember listening to Little Earthquakes on my discman while driving around with my family ... somewhere. It might've been in Toronto. I don't know, but I just remember feeling really happy while listening to "Happy Phantom".

Is there a song by 23 that makes you sad?
"Razzle Dazzle Rose" makes me a little wistful for some reason.

What is your favorite album of 15?
Um, I'm not sure. Turn On The Bright Lights, maybe.

What is your favorite lyric that 9 has sung?
WHY ARE YOU CHOOSING REALLY AWESOME LYRICISTS. Oh, Rufus. I don't know. Maybe "you who were born there where beauty is existence", from "Greek Song".

How many times have you seen 5 live?
    Never. :(

What is your favorite album by 12?
    Hounds of Love, bb!

What is a good memory you have involving 25?
I saw them in concert with Aly and it was a superawesome time. We were tipsy and cheerful and enjoying good old fashioned Canadian rock music.

What was the first song you heard by 18?
"How Soon Is Now?", probably. That one is pretty famous.

What is your favorite song by 17?
"Crystal Ball" is so lovely. And the whole Under The Iron Sea album reminds me of my girlfriend.

What is your favorite album by 24?
Um, the Chronicles of Narnia soundtrack, I guess?

How many of your top 25 have you seen live?
Four: The Decemberists (twice), Rufus Wainwright (once), The Tragically Hip (once), Final Fantasy (once, when he was still called Owen Pallett, I think).
  • WE ARE THE PIPETTES

    Mag 7 2007, 7:23

Is it sad that I only have 21 songs by The Pipettes and yet, they're 3rd on my "most played" list with 411 plays?

Probably. But, well. I also bought a polkadot dress because of them.

RELEASE ANOTHER ALBUM PLZ PIPETTES ♥
  • it's weird and it's wonderful, dear

Colin Meloy's "Wonder" is one of the sweetest songs I have ever heard him sing. I mean, besides "Shiny". And "On the Bus Mall". And "The Crane Wife 1 and 2", and "The Crane Wife 3". And ... okay, he writes a lot of songs that are heartwrenching and achingly beautiful.

The tagging sort of ruined this post, but that's alright.

For some reason, being in certain moods makes me want to immerse myself in music that no one else seems to care intensely about. It's like escaping into a song that evokes a feeling; something that nobody can touch, just because no one else around me feels as strongly as I do about that music. It's about feeling unique and isolated, I suppose, as lame as that sounds. I'm not explaining this as well as I thought I could.

Anyway, music is gr8. I probably shouldn't try to be deep.
  • DELAYS = NOT FEMALE, UM PARDON

    Set 3 2006, 13:49

    Waitwaitwaitwait.

The Delays are MEN? That is a MAN singing???????

I'M QUITE SORRY BUT THIS COMES ACROSS AS A REAL SHOCK TO ME.

I MEAN, PARDON WHAT. THAT IS QUITE A HIGH VOICE.

    :|

I feel as though I've been somewhat misinformed.
  • "OHHH, THAT'S the song I've been trying to remember!"

    Lug 22 2006, 5:10

Isn't it brilliant when you finally discover the song that's been on the tip of your tongue for ages? Example: I heard "Iron Man" by The Cardigans a while back and the band sounded familiar, but I couldn't remember what song it was that I'd recognized. But, of course, it was "Lovefool". And now I'm having an "OHHHHHHHHH THAT'S IT" moment.

I've had a similar problem with Morrissey's "We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful". I KNOW I heard the song ages ago in a commercial, or a film, or a movie trailer, or SOMETHING. However, I can't remember where, and it's been driving me mad for over a year now.

    The Cardigans
    Iron Man
    Lovefool
  • Heathcliff, it's meeeee, Cathy, I've come hoooome

"Wuthering Heights" by Kate Bush seems to have found its way to the top of my 'overall top tracks' list. I have no problem with this. It is a song that is made of pure awesome.

If you haven't seen one of the two music videos for it, here's the most hilarious one:

  • HOW CAN I BE SURE YOU'RE NOT PRETENDER

    Giu 10 2006, 6:43

I love you, I wanna love you tender.
You could be my only sweet surrender.
I would never bring you any kind of sorrow.

You love me, you wanna love me tender.
How can I be sure you're not pretender?
    You want me today,
    But what about tomorrow?

    Oh, you're absolutely fine,
Your lips are taste of wine.
I'd like to think you're mine.
And if I could touch your hand,
This rock would turn to sand,
So this is where we stand.

You love me, you wanna love me tender.
How can I be sure you're not pretender?
    You want me today,
    But what about tomorrow?

I love you, I wanna love you tender.
I just want to be your loving fender.
    I would like to take you;
    I know I can't deceive you.

I love you, I too can be so tender.
I can be your only sweet surrender,
And if you give your heart,
    I'll never ever leave you.

    Oh, you're absolutely fine,
Your lips are taste of wine.
I'd like to think you're mine.
And if I could touch your hand,
This rock would turn to sand,
So this is where we stand.

If we all say 'Wanna love you tender,"
No-one has to be a great pretender.
    And this world would be
A better place to live in. I Wanna Love You TenderArmi & Danny

There are times when I can't listen to my favourite musical artists anymore because I've listened to their songs too much, and I have to take a break to sample some different music.

However, as much as I love bands/artists like Roxy Music, Pulp, New Order, Placebo, The Tragically Hip, Sufjan Stevens, Rufus Wainwright, Owen Pallett, Simon & Garfunkel, The Divine Comedy, Interpol, Kate Bush, etc., there are some bands that will always be my favourites. SUCH AS:

    The Smiths
    The Barenaked Ladies
    The Decemberists
    The Beatles

I will never end my love affair with these bands. Neverevereverever.

This is a pointless post but I DON'T CARE. I'm announcing my love for a bunch of random bands and musicians. That is all.
