When I last saw Father John Misty in New York, he seemed rather irritated with the crowd and decided to share his irritation via terribly obnoxious stage banter (which he called "performance art"). Afterwards we ruminated on the merits of hatred versus love, and all sorts of other trendy, superficially intellectual topics, and I got the feeling that his irritation with the lesser masses was nothing new.

However, he is unarguably talented and didn't come across as a bad guy (even after all of his shenanigans), so I was pleased to hear that he'd toned it down a little for the show on Wed 24 Oct – Father John Misty, La Sera, Jeffertitti's Nile. Listening to him sing is always a pleasure, and watching him dance is always entertaining; apparently he delivered on both of those counts, so that's all I could possibly wish for.

Though I couldn't go this time, my friend did, and took these photos of La Sera, these of Jeffertitti's Nile, these of Misty, and these of all the acts performing together. And she was quite impressed with the whole deal. Hopefully I'll be able to catch the show when he/they next come through town.
