Yeah, job hunting is just a little difficult, even when you have some crazy relevant degree. A friend of mine has a degree in accounting and lives in Texas, but she can't find anything outside of temp work and she is a very hardworking, dedicated person. Sucks trying to get your foot in the door and just having a whole lotta bad luck. I don't mean to suggest she'd have better luck with a degree in library science, though, lol. Ahh, a feral druid! I play restoration druid, but on Emerald Dream. Only really play a couple hours a week these days, more to keep in touch with friends than anything. Still, good memories. Our conversation about SC got me to actually play a game or two last night. Pretty fun, even when being two-gated. And that Starbow mod the guy made that combines SC/SC2 units and playstyles is pretty fun, if you're ever looking for something to check out.

Yeah, library science is probably not a great longterm route because, and this is my ignorance, I'm not sure what you do if there isn't a library? Although, I did hear an interview with Tim Gunn where he mentioned his mom was a librarian and ended up helping found the CIA's library. I think a lot of the stuff about types of degrees being useless is bunk. Undergrad stuff is not very helpful, but once you get your master's it's easier sailing, I think. And most people don't know how to sell themselves or all the places their degree might help them get a job. Ahh, physics. My sister's boyfriend has an undergrad degree in physics and it's done him well financially, but I wouldn't feel comfortable working in the defense industry; my loss, I guess. I was fortunate enough to meet M-A and his bf when I was living in Scottsdale. He is the most hilarious, nice person! Coulda talked to him and Nick all night. Definitely a highlight of my life, as nerdy as that sounds.

Oil and gas stuff is so crazy right now. Colorado's starting to get ng/fracking stuff going and it's all sorts of weird. Part of the state wanted to secede last election so that they could have all the rights to themselves. A library job is probably pretty low key, huh? I think I would like that. Yes, Totally Square Office Renaissance Man, that's me. Working from home is nice. I worked a lot of hours in Scottsdale, so it's nice to have things be more laid back now. It would probably surprise most people on The-N that I am now a member of the ACLU, haha. I think the only person who saw it coming was The-M-A. School is BS for 90% of people, yeah, but I had wanted to take a more academic career with anthropology and eventually get a PhD and teach or do work in South America. I do think about going back, but I don't think I want to right now. I need to wait until my gf finishes her master's, probably, anyway. What is your boyfriend going to school for?

Oops, but don't worry, I'm no longer a conservative person so I can't be your favorite, but feel free to put me in your books as an unspecial and hideously apolotical person

I blather, too, so I will do one more, even though I am sure it's irritating. My job description changed when I moved back to Colorado from Scottsdale, but in Scottsdale I was doing a bit of everything at the office. My family's company does financial education, so I did a lot of teaching computer classes, answering phones, getting lunch/groceries, student support, document writing, opening at 5 am six days a week a couple weeks a month, computer repair... if other people couldn't or didn't want to do it, I did it! Back in Colorado, I work from home so I can help my girlfriend with school stuff. So I do backend sales things here and some additional student support. I use reddit as well, but I think I'm weird because 90% of the subs I'm subscribed to are "I hate reddit" subs like /r/cirlcebroke and /r/shitredditsays. One of the few non-hater subs I sometimes enjoy is /r/letstalkmusic, but even then it can be a headache. Followed back on twitter. I'm even dumber there, sorry in advance.

Your degree sounds really neat. What are you planning on doing with your Master's? I was an anthropology guy until I dropped out, ha. I had, um, sophomore senioritis. Or too many physical and mental health problems to stay in school, whichever sounds more sympathetic. (Probably the latter.) Everything's working out okay on the job front for me, but I do have those nagging feelings of inadequacy and inferiority over my education situation. The guide was super stupid. It's probably one of the five most embarrassing things I did on that website. I disagreed with you about the Beatles being overrated? I can't believe I would legitimately argue they aren't, but that might have been during my mania-induced trolling period. The feedback loops thing is interesting -- I don't remember the conversation, but I think I know what you mean and it makes sense. Bobwronski sounds very familiar, not sure what interaction we had there.

I think we spoke at least once. I vaguely remember believing you hated me and being surprised we were talking, but I then that could've been anyone... I think it was you in this case, though! We had that guide to music genres or some bizarre thing like that on the music forum and I think you were either going to or did write something for it? Or a participant somehow. What're you getting a degree in (question that no one likes)? In smaller terms, I've been trying to fix my ceiling fan. Bigger picture, I work for my family's company. I miss The-N, too. It was a big part of my life for a long time and I've been lucky enough to meet a few people from the site in person. I'm bummed that the internet's moved away from message boards. I use twitter/tumblr, but it doesn't feel the same. Good luck finding a post-college job! So hard right now, but that's just stating the obvious. ):

Small world! I think I saw your username on here a long time ago somewhere.. Maybe on oaquard's profile or when I was looking for The-N people after The-N shut down their boards. Was thinking about The-N last night for some reason and remembered I'd seen your name, so I thought I'd say hi. Lastfm is where I talked to most people I knew outside of The-N back when I used it, so 90% of my friendlist here is The-N people, haha. I do not really remember the name boatyboat, but ZapRoffo and Relinquo sound familiar -- and of course your name now. I do carry deep shame for my past political opinions, but then a stupid part of me thinks it was, uh, sweet(?) how sure of ourselves we all were. Yes, there's a good idea, let's get 14-year-olds to offer their opinions on theology and the drug war! I think it was a net positive experience for all of us, though, probably.

Anyhow, I definitely remember talking to you a couple times on the music boards. My memory's pretty bad (I just had to replace my credit card because I left it at Burger King!), so I don't remember *exactly* what we talked about, but I don't think I'd be saying hi if it was a frightening experience. I'm not sure what I say now... How are you/what have you been up to, I guess?

Do you like the soundtrack for Zelda: Link's Awakening? It's one of my favorites, although I did find out recently I had been scrobbling them this whole time with, apparently, the wrong artist (Koji Kondo). Turns out these fine folks are actually the musical majesties behind that game. I also checked out your journal post on your top 10 video game songs, and while I've listed my favorite VGM artists on my profile I haven't thought of which tracks are specifically my favorites. From your list, I LOVE numbers 10 (Kirkyhope FTW) and 5 (I don't think Forest Temple is a strange pick in the slightest, and I bet most others don't either!). I also do like numbers 2 and 4, and number 8 brings back memories of when I used to play AOE II all the time...oh the memories....it's gonna make me cry....but I can hold back the torrent of tears. As for the others on your list, I've never actually heard them.

WHAT? Now that I actually see the description, it plainly states "Industry is a song from the soundtrack of Schwabs Music Mod for Braid." Well don't I feel foolish now. It even said so in the video portion but I didn't actually look at that, I just clicked and went elsewhere. But I don't think you can blame me TOO much since the friggin' title of the video itself was "Braid Music - Industry" and NOT "Braid Music Mod - Industry." Or maybe you can.

I've played neither Myst nor Braid. Sounds as though you were really wanting that Braid soundtrack, so I thought I'd go on YouTube and listen to some tracks to hear for myself. I particularly like the tracks "Industry" and "Identity." I'm listening to the latter right now as a matter of fact.

Long overdue friend addition. I saw your shout again recently and then looked at your profile again, thinking "I should maybe add this person." Lovely library and VGM.
