Sadly I won't be able to make it to the Wovenhand gig but I dreamt about it last night! Hope it's as good next week as it was then. :-) Spring well set in, time for a mix swap?

I have seen Waltz with Bashir. I'm a fan of Max Richter. By the way, I loved Little ones run in Fuck Off Get Free We Pour Light On Everything. : )

It was a day I always looked forward to. They were able to beat all the logic, when I chose them over Classical and Minimalism. Against all the odds and the reality that they have moved on and changed, I still expect something mellow. I am aware that it's me who needs to be evolved. Thanks for reading my rants.

First of all, I know what you mean because the same thing happened with one of my favorites (Anathema), there new music was not as appealing as their old work. When I saw them live, I forgot about everything. But, when they played some of their old music, it was overwhelming and I can never forget that. About ASMZ, I have gone at thelenghts of buying the record (Vinyl) of their first album, even though I don't own a record player, for the day I buy it. It's not just He has left Alone, even Born Into Trouble as the Sparks Fly Upward is sublime. It's just that, you perceive and interpret music on an extremely subjective level For me ASMZ has been that band which made me fall in love with instruments in my childhood. Took me away from all the other genres of metal, grunge. Helped me evolve to cherish instrumental and classical music with no vocals. To fathom the fact that my dream of seeing them live while playing their initial stuff is almost impossible.

I agree with everything you said. However, I have spent a lot of time idealizing them. Being in India, I always dreamt of seeing them live someday as ASMZ or GY!BE and listen to them live. I can get my head around their new style of music but to lose the hope of never being able to see or hear what I always loved is quite disappointing. Also, my whole idea of listening to classical, contemporary classical, minimalism and Post-Rock is to listen to instruments which of course is uncalled information.

Thanks for the Wovenhand heads-up - really hoping I'll be able to see them; I'll see how it's going. :-)
