You know, I have had the picture saved for a long time in my photos, and I don't recall where in the world I got it. I love Vargas and grabbed a bunch of photos off the web to make myself a screen saver and this one was probably one of those. Sorry I can't be more helpful. I can try to find one that is public domain and pass it to you for your friend if you would like.

Hey, I'm a Canadian girl through and through, but no matter how hard I try, I just can't make myself like the Tragically Hip. :P And they would make you feel unpatriotic because of this ... I've heard a few times that Canada has more talent per capita than the States does (I have no idea how this would be determined), and if it's true, that's great. And there are those who would tell you there's a distinct Canadian sound ... I guess I'm not discerning enough to sense it. I'm all for supporting my country's talent, but I can't like something by virtue of it being Canadian alone. That being said, I do have Metric and Feist on my list. :)

Thanks for the visit and the shout! I tried Cowboy Junkies some time ago...didn't much care for whatever it was I listened to, but I'm open to trying again. Any songs/albums in particular you'd recommend? Also, I see you listening to Nanci Griffith...love her!

Yes it was not the best crowd. I'm thinking he had a bit more to pull out like Ryan Adams (rocknroll side), but he didn't -not that there's anything wrong with that. At least he didn't fall off the stage drunk like RA is like to do. Can't wait to get the new album. I'm hoping to find some live versions of his songs or other good links to his stuff. I do hope he changes his opening act next time. Ouch. :)

Do you mean low key in the # of fans? Or his music? Because I think the concert was pretty well attended, though I have to say, it wasn't the best crowd. Talking way too much. It was the second time I had seen Ray. The first was in more of a concert hall environment, which I think suits a lot of his music better. He's pretty amazing. Did you enjoy the concert?

Descrizione

In this proud land we grew up strong
We were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could fail

No fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
Ive changed my face, Ive changed my name
But no one wants you when you lose

Dont give up
cos you have friends
Dont give up
Youre not beaten yet
Dont give up
I know you can make it good

Though I saw it all around
Never thought I could be affected
Thought that wed be the last to go
It is so strange the way things turn

Drove the night toward my home
The place that I was born, on the lakeside
As daylight broke, I saw the earth
The trees had burned down to the ground

Dont give up
You still have us
Dont give up
We dont need much of anything
Dont give up
cause somewhere theres a place
Where we belong

Rest your head
You worry too much
Its going to be alright
When times get rough
You can fall back on us
Dont give up
Please dont give up

got to walk out of here
I cant take anymore
Going to stand on that bridge
Keep my eyes down below
Whatever may come
And whatever may go
That rivers flowing
That rivers flowing

Moved on to another town
Tried hard to settle down
For every job, so many men
So many men no-one needs

Dont give up
cause you have friends
Dont give up
Youre not the only one
Dont give up
No reason to be ashamed
Dont give up
You still have us
Dont give up now
Were proud of who you are
Dont give up
You know its never been easy
Dont give up
cause I believe theres the a place
Theres a place where we belong

"Don't Give Up" - Peter Garbiel

It's funny how this song seemed so far away in the 90s when it was about Africa, boy this song could be about many of us in the US eh? WIll we be more human next time around?
