Hello Jonathan, I've made an analysis over MPB last.fm groups (with >190 artists), and your group's artist: "Marisa Monte" is also included. What do you think of the results?

Hey there! I was googling for help on a particular BBcode trouble, when I came across your page here. I would join and ask in your dedicated group, but it seems rather inactive lately :( I was wondering if you could help me to get images to appear side by side? Kind of like you have in your 'pictorial wishlist' section; regular table codes don't seem to be working for me! Thanks for your time, hope you can help!

Sorry, no more contest! Bamse above is chilling along to Oliver Lake, one of his favorites (and mine, natch).

Welcome to your world talking_animal head- quarters. Feel free to browse around and hunt for recommendations, in fact, you can try my recommendations radio, which I obsessively prune to remove those dull and boring group recommendations that I (and you) already knew about. The night before I wrote this up, for instance, reco-radio brought me Ximena Sariñana, Benjamin Herman, Messer Chups, Emily Hurd, Along Came Betty, and Vieno Kekkonen and Pärre Förars, among other tasty morsels of music.

For more talking_animal-type goodness, please try listening to Radio Theriolalia, which has accompanying discussion and journal threads if you aren't yet sick of my taste (or the taste of my friends).

What my alligator jaw can't release:
Chico Hamilton. He's 85 years young, a top jazz drummer, and my school this spring awarded him a doctorate honoris causa. Chico Hamilton put out in the last year four full CDs of music: Juniflip, 6th Avenue Romp, Believe, and Heritage. They are all stone masterpieces, thanks to Chico's incredible sense of rhythm and dynamics and his extraordinary band, with Cary DeNigris on guitar, Paul Ramsay on bass, Andrew Hadro & Evan Schwam on reeds, and Jeremy Carlstedt on percussion. It's a new sound, an old sound, a dear sound.
Big Yum Yum. Like a gypsy dub band covering French nouvelle vague film soundtracks. Read more [and comment] here.
Kristin Asbjørnsen. Norwegian voice, American spirituals. Unaffected yet affecting.

This year's theriolicious plan for galvanic musical dispersion: link here and page down to comments #9 and #10

"The principal nourishments of the Northeast are: a type of dried salted beef, mandioca flour, and rhythm. Rhythm is the principal nourishment of the people of the Northeast. In reality, it is this abstract nourishment that allows the people of the Northeast to survive. Rhythm is the skeletal structure, the spinal cord. Rhythm is, in the Northeast, a dehydrated God."—Tom Zé
