  • Goo Goo Dolls won artist of the year

...for adult hit radio at the radio music awards - woo hoo! Knew they could do it :)
  • Bands to rate (my list)

    Dic 17 2005, 22:54

So this is basically my ultimate list of my fave bands with a few comments...enjoy!

Goo Goo Dolls - IMO, the best band in existence - I was blown away by Live in Buffalo, and everytime I listen their songs get better and better. Simply awesome. Black Balloon, Two Days in February, Name, etc. every single song gets me.

Dire Straits - some brilliant guitar solos here - Tunnel of Love, a classic, & Romeo and Juliet is great too. Fab.

Something Corporate - Konstantine - amazing. I fell in love with this song, still can't get enough.

Dashboard Confessional - Pure & simple - Bend and Break to Hands Down & some of the more raw tracks. As Lovers Go grabbed me first when I heard it on my radio. Obsession carried on from there.

The Calling - I've seen them live & they were even better in the flesh. I love both their more sensitive & upbeat stuff - Wherever You Will Go of course, & Anything from the album "Two." Definitely rate this band.

Feeder - Going to see them in March - really can't wait. Echo Park is def their classic album, but gotta love "just a day" too, and a few off Yesterday Went Too Soon. Their more recent stuff is mellow & soulful. Can't beat it.

James Blunt - what a gem. I heard "Goodbye my Lover" and cried for about 20 mins. No joke.

matchbox twenty - Have two of their albums & love them both - particularly "Hang," "3am" and "Bright Lights." I'm a sucker for the slow ones.

Train - my first official favourite band - I got hooked on Drops of Jupiter & it went from there. Still love them now. "Lincoln Avenue" is a treat.

Jimmy Eat World - "Work." What a song. The intro gets me every time, & then the lyrics...I go for the lyrics.

The Darkness - Saw them at Leeds festival, & I'm goin to their next tour - I can't help loving Justin Hawkins. He's the most hilarious frontman ever - when he got us to sing "I'm hungry, give us some meat." he's a genius.

Aerosmith - "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" and "Dude looks like a Lady." Love em!

Lifehouse - Brilliant new album - "You and Me" & "All in All." Also liking "Hanging By a Moment" from "No Name Face." They're the kind of band where you can listen to an album and love every song.

Well my fingers are hurting now, so here's the rest in short hand:
    Snow Patrol
    Foo Fighters
    Counting Crows
    The Wallflowers
    3 Doors Down
    Funeral for a Friend
    Straylight Run
    Simple Plan
    Maroon 5
    Bryan Adams
    Missy Higgins
    Vertical Horizon
    Bon Jovi
  • Claim to fame - Robert Plant at my school

    Dic 3 2005, 23:40

As far as Led Zepplin go, I've only ever been interested in one of their songs, and that's "Stairway to Heaven," but the other day, Robert Plant came to my school. We've recently had an extension of the music block, so he came to open it officially. I was playing in the band, and he came into the room, & once we'd finished playing he stood in front of us (really close to me because I play oboe so I'm right in the middle of the band) and he posed for pictures with the head. He was dressed in casual clothes - jeans & a long leather jacket I think. I never knew what he looked like before so it was pretty cool! Some people got to meet him & he gave a little speech, saying how music had been his passport through life. He was really genuine and down to earth. a-woohoo.
  • Dead Man soundtrack

    Ott 3 2005, 14:47

Does anyone have the Dead Man soundtrack by Neil Young?? I love the film & its theme music, but can't find it on itunes, & have only spotted the CD in places like Amazon.com, & it's a bit pricey...methinks it's either rare or v. underrated.
  • Feeder @ the NEC

    Set 30 2005, 19:06

Is anyone going to this Feeder gigg in December? I haven't seen them live yet but I've got this one booked...
  • Meh...

    Set 30 2005, 18:41

I claim no responsibility for the playage of Boyzone on my profile...this is all on my sister's merits! Also any random Bil Bryson things...yep very random. Just don't ask. We love her really!
  • Goo Goo Dolls & 'Better Days'

    Ago 29 2005, 15:57

Just a note to say I am so excited about this upcoming release, Goo Goo Dolls are my favourite band & the new song is reported to be better than Iris (is that even possible?!) It's set to be a brilliant album too, I recently got 'Live In Buffalo' CD & DVD which I can't stop watching - I have everything crossed that this time their tour will include the UK - although I am still doubtful. Check out this band guys, they are way underrated!
