I'm going through a German phase. I've been listening to Wir Sind Helden a lot. I had their song Die Konkurrenz on repeat for a while. I've also been listening to Silbermond … their Nein Danke and Schick Love are catchy numbers. I'm exploring Juli, Joachim Deutschland and Christina Stürmer
too. My German is very weak, next to nil as a matter of fact, but I'm enjoying all the same!
I got the EP Take Or Leave It by Thunderbird 13, a hard rock/metal band from England last month. I've been enjoying it. I think House of Sin is my favorite track. Of course, my favorite songs change according to what mood I'm in so tomorrow it might be one of the other songs tickling my fancy. If you like hard rock/metal, check it out.
I'm all giddy over finding a digital store that is selling Beth Hart's latest release 37 Days. I would have bought an actual CD but it seems it's only sold in the States as an import and import prices aren't in my budget right now! I'm just really loving the record. If you like female singers who sing from the gut I say, check it out.
I've been rediscovering Rory Gallagher, thanks to the Classic Rock group (http://www.last.fm/group/Classic+Rock) making him the artist of the week. Gallagher's live work … superb. It had been so long since I'd listened to his work that it was like hearing it for the first time again. I think I probably appreciate his talents more at this age and rediscovery than I did when I first discovered him while picking through my Mom's record collection and laying claim on everything I thought I should have.
Joan Osborne, remember her? I was never a real big fan of her big hit One Of Us not because it was a bad song or anything. It just didn't do anything for me though it is rather catchy. I'm not sure how or why but I found myself listening to some of her songs. Maybe it has to do with me being older and appreciating different things, but she's just blowing me away right now. I've had to put her on my "buy this" list.
Warren Haynes with Grace Potter doing Gold Dust Woman live from the Jam Cruise shows earlier this month. Find it, buy it, love it. The whole show is amazing … live, bluesy, acoustic and brilliant.
I've taken a bit of a break in my listen to everything from .38 Special to ZZ Top in my media player at least once goal. I have a lot of songs that have been covered by multiple artists and a lot of songs with the same title but are in no way the same song. So, I got the grand idea to listen to all of these songs, back to back. In doing this, I've decided I don't like the song All The Young Dudes no matter who's singing it Mott The Hoople, David Bowie, Tesla and anyone else … didn't Bon Jovi cover it too? No, wait, they covered another song that everyone seems to like but I don't, The Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy. I like all of the above artist, well, maybe not Bon Jovi so much but I just don't like those songs even though I own them.
