  • Gareth Emery at Republic, New Orleans

    Ott 24 2014, 22:14

Fri 17 Oct – Drive: An American Road Trip Tour
Incredible show. The venue was really neat and I had VIP tickets, so I had access to a balcony with the perfect view and two free well drinks. The chandeliers, faded vintage paintings on exposed brick walls, and its location in the warehouse district of New Orleans made it the perfect place for the show. The first opening artist, Michael Medina, was pretty good and I really enjoyed his set. The second opening artist, Unicorn Fukr, was pretty boring. He pretty much just played the same beats over and over. And of course, Gareth Emery was fantastic just as expected!

Sat 13 Sep – Ed Sheeran, Rudimental

Phenomenal performance! I always appreciate artists who are up on the stage doing everything completely by themselves. I haven't been to an arena concert since I was 8 and I don't like them because they don't feel as intimate, but Ed was really great with interacting with the crowd. My favorite performance was "You Need Me, I Don't Need You," which he played as the first song in a three part encore.

Wed 9 Oct – The Lumineers

Incredible show! Actually much more upbeat and entertaining than I thought it would be. The band even left the stage for a few songs and played out in the audience, with the accordion player standing on a rooftop. They played three songs for an encore. The mandolin and the cello were gorgeous, and the stage looked beautiful the way it was set up for the outdoor venue. Schultz's voice is incredible live. Great show.

Mon 7 Oct – Vampire Weekend, Sky Ferreira

So freaking good. "Finger Back" and "A-Punk" were my favorites live. The whole concert was amazing though, and the venue just added to it. Something about the concert being in an old church converted into a concert hall added to their music. The lighting and effects were insane. The lighting got so intense during "Giving Up the Gun" that I thought the whole stage was going to blow up. Incredible. Ezra's voice sounds flawless live. The only thing I didn't like about the show, though, was that it was really short. They only played for about an hour. But it was worth driving all the way to Nashville for and getting a massive speeding ticket on the way home!
