Just got my copy of this week's popbitch, and here are the juiciest bits of music goss...
>> Will Guy get swept away? <<
When good marriages go bad

As the Madonna - Stuart Price rumours refuse to die down, our thoughts naturally turn to Guy Ritchie. But don't shed too many tears for Guy yet. He's said to be finding comfort in the arms of former love, Elastica starJustine Frischmann. And spending quality time with one of his sister's best friends.

Rumours were going around earlier this year that Madonna had skin cancer. Luckily it seems as if the only ugly growth she's thinking of cutting off this year is her husband.

Leo Sayer is down with the kids littlecumpot writes:
"My ex was working in Neal's Yard. Leo Sayer came in for his health food goodies, chatted to my ex and his colleague and then, as he was leaving rather than saying 'see you/take care' or something, he did the two fingered peace sign, said 'Stone Roses, man' and left."

>> It's Max Martin baby, one more time <<
The return of the Max is good for pop music
Thank god for Max Martin. Back in the late 90s his songs like Hit Me Baby One More Time and Everybody (Backstreet's Back) ruled the world. Now it's happening again. His song for Kelly Clarkson,Since You Been Gone, was many people's pick for top pop track of 2005; he wrote Analogue for a-ha, sending them back into the UK top five for the first time since the 80s; and has given You and Your Hand, the only good track she's done since splitting from Linda Perry. But there's even better to come. The Veronicas are 20 year-old identical twins from Brisbane, Jess and Lisa Origliasso. Signed by Madonna's former mentor, Seymour Stein, in the States, their first single is a majestic Max Martin pop-rock anthem, 4Ever. Listen:

(FYI: Chris Martin from Coldplay is a huge a-ha fan.)

Britain aims for "nil points" again

Another year - another Eurovision balls-up. Only recently Radiohead and Trevor Horn promised to write a songs for Eurovision. So who is on our Eurovision shortlist? Anthony from Blue, Kym Marsh, Daz (from novelty hitsters Rikki and Daz) and three unknowns.
For this list we can thank Fame Academy's Richard Park. And it gets even worse. Anthony's song was released by a singer called Michelle Lawson two years ago, which means he's likely to be disqualified, and the one good track, Play Your Game, is sung by a young kid barely out of university. Goran Kay looked terrified at yesterday's launch.

The winner will be decided on 4th March.

The devil used to have all the best songs

Three facts about this year's awards yawnfest:

1. Goldman Sachs had more guests than MTV.

2. Kaiser Chiefs' performance of I Predict a Riot was the cue for waiting staff to serve guests with stilton and oatcakes.

3. James Blunt's performance coincided with the biggest queue of the night at the men's toilets.
