Good to hear. I actually just bought a PS4 ... and I'm replaying Inquisition. If I can play a game for 99 hours and still want to replay the whole thing, it must've did something right. Also, I finally got the Keep to work, so I've imported my choices, as best as I can remember them, into Inquisition. Yippy.

I've actually never played the DLC of either Origins or DA2, for some weird reason. I can absolutely see myself playing Origins over in the not too distant future, such a good game. What does the DLC entail exactly? A new dungeon/area?

I don't mind Dragon Age 2 as much as a lot of people. I generally like the characters, the story and, for the most part, the setting. I did not feel like choices in the game were terribly significant during my playthrough a few years back. The idea of starting from nothing and becoming a major part of a city is a great idea, though it could've been handled with more oomph. Such as: you can climb all the way up to a King's/Ruler's position, you could BECOME the villain, that sort of thing. I also took issue with the reused assets as has been pointed out by everybody and their gerbil. I like the combat in 2 more than Origins; it is more 'my style' of play, to feel in control of a character's direct actions instead of being an omnipotent teleprompter informing characters what to do. Though I'm aware fans of Tactical games were displeased by the changes.

Sera was always thought to be a divisive character, hence she is the only one you can outright boot any time. That being said, she's my favorite character. I initially thought she was hilarious and a bit reminiscent of Tiny Tina from Borderlands 2. I eventually became really intrigued by her story and just how deep it goes. Pay attention to her stories and dialogue, she is often hinted at being capable of extraordinary things for which she'll claim to have no recollection of just 'how' she managed to pull them off. At a first glance, it seems silly and just Sera being quirky, but some of it hints at her closeness to the Fade and what powers she could possess. She's just a fun character to speculate about, if nothing else.

I wish I would have used Cole more, I adored his personal story arc and character, but by the time I got him, I was VERY set in my ways. I know it was 'early game' in the main plot, but at that point I had about twenty-five hours on my save. I experimented a bit with other characters for bonus dialogue but never got anything meaty out of Cole. When the Solas/Sera sky conversation happened I got chills and really wanted to keep them together to hear more. Nothing could uproot Blackwall from my party at any stage in the game after I solo'd a dragon with him early on by accident. My whole party got wiped out, the dragon was at 2/3rds health, only Blackwall was left and I won. After that he and I had a kindred bond. Behind Solas, (the!) Iron Bull was my next pick in line. Others I occasionally threw in, despite loving the whole cast.

I fully expected Solas to die early on, or be about as significant as that mage companion you get in Origins during the Battle of Ostagar. It was a very well implemented piece of character development. ALTHOUGH, I guessed things were off about Solas. First, when he led the Inquisitor to Skyhold after the fall of Haven and just sort of ... knew it was there, and he mentioned something about Skyhold's old magic making it impenetrable to Coypheus. I was like, "You wot, mate?" That and he said very weird things to Sera I mostly chalked up to him being 'Wise Mage Character in Fantasy Setting', but when he practically berated her to tell him what color the sky was through her eyes I was pretty convinced either Sera or Solas were more than they let on. I still happen to think Sera is also not at all a simple-minded penniless girl. It's heavily hinted she is magical in some way and represses her memories of it.

I hope they add on a substantial DLC/expansion. There's just so much that can be done with this universe, and yes, it is very refreshing to play a game that tackles such interesting topics. I hope the DLC revolves around The Calling, which is the event the Hero of Ferelden is tied up with, as of Inquisition's time. A lot of events and side pieces of dialogue hint at The Calling, namely the back-masked whispers in the Temple of Mythal, if you drink from the well. Anyway, I will certainly look into the old Bioware games, I've always wanted to give KOTOR a swing.

Foxcatcher was really dreary and really good. I haven't caught American Sniper, but I’ll probably wait until the DVD release. It’s not generally the kind of thing I’d be interesting in, but that trailer was INTENSE! Like you, I’m more curious about it than anything else. While we're on the subject of 2014 Oscar-type movies, what about Inherent Vice? Have you seen that one? It made NO SENSE whatsoever to me. I’ve really got to watch it again. I dug the tunes, though.

You’re going to love Whiplash. I caught it twice in the theater, so I’ve had some time to let it sit with me, and it’s still my favorite film of 2014. I liked Boyhood a lot, though I only caught it once in its initial run, and I’ve really been itching to watch it again. That and Birdman (which I also thought was very, very good.) I was actually thinking of you when I saw Blackhat, since I remembered that you were such a big fan of Miami Vice. I thought Blackhat was…interesting, though, aside from Collateral, I haven’t seen any of Mann’s 2000s work. This one really made me want to go back and watch all of his films. My friends (who didn’t even really know who Michael Mann is) hated it, but I thought it was aesthetically fascinating. And that final showdown sequence, maaan, even though I’m not a total Mann convert (yet), I thought it was an instantly classic scene.

DA:I might be my favorite Bioware game, having not played their earlier work, like KOTOR. It's basically everything I've been wanting out of the earlier DAs and more. Loved the exploration, the crafting, pretty much every character. It was an absolute joy to play from beginning to end. Never have I been so excited to farm ore before. It took me exactly 99 hours to finish the game, but I'm fairly certain I did EVERYTHING besides complete the mosaics.

They're trying to get back to some kind of Silent Alarm deal, but its like different in a weird way. The Healing is by far the best song imo
