There's no question that they have. I would love to fuck someone to The Final Report. It sounds deeply sexual on first listen!

I haven't really seen any pre-90s korean films and should probably get on that soon.

Yea, I don't really know too much about Korean stuff either. I've never actually been there and I have no family there. Though, I have a good amount of Korean friends though almost all of them are "Americanized". If you have the time, I found out this was up on youtube a few days ago (posted about it in the lair so sorry that I'm just repeating stuff ha): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkxoXMb2jUI // It's called Oasis. You can read up about it but I don't like spoiling anything (even basic plot) so I'll just leave it up to you.

yea, you'd probably smell but who cares man nahmean. also, thanks for all the tips. i think i should be fine in regards to maintaining a ratio as long as i seed everything and just download stuff that's super #rare and all. Unrelated but have you watched a lot of korean films? And if so, what are your favorites?

So yeah, Cat Soup! The actual story was much more interesting than any meta-story it could have had, so for that I liked it. Ha, I guess I don't have much of a critique. Usually I am a fan of well put together, not obvious metaphors and symbolism, which it had, but the actual surface story and however you wanna interpret the rest weren't terribly engaging when put together. Hmm I can't remember anything about the credits though, lol. The last thing I remember is a static-y television. I'll probably rewatch it again because I get so much flack for saying I just thought it was "meh" :P. Panicsville is an odd project. Something about noise artists in big plushy costumes really just works.

yeah i feel you on the kendrick album, even the sort of lusher sounding songs are topically somewhat distanced. i'll say half to your question on welfare checks, i figured the 1st and 15th was a reference to checks, but i just assumed pay checks instead of welfare checks. and as for eXquire noz's point may explain it, that LiT got him a major deal so why bother trying something new, or maybe he's just a one hit wonder and will keep being a solid feature rapper (like on el-p's album he kill it!!) i guess time will tell

i've kept listening to eXquire, even bought his new ep on iTunes eek! but he hasn't had a release as solid as lost in translation yet, i think he's still a pretty talented rapper, but he hasn't been as funny or as thoughtful or as nerdy as on lost in translation, man in the high castle was pretty whatevs, power and passion has some good songs and gucci feature, but yeah lost in translation is still definitely the best

poetic justice i think can be called pretty breezy, am definitely expecting to get home and have that be one of the three songs they play on the radio, swimming pools and bitch don't kill my vibe i think can be called somewhat breezy too, its pretty impressive that for such a serious album it's incredibly listenable/sounds like good driving around burning music. and lol thanks for reminding me about pussy on a pedalstool, now i cant stop thinking about how they waiting on kendrick like the 1st and the 15th. also love the fake tape hiss on art of peer pressure, nice touch. did you hear the jig is up? nice victory lap song

noz's new pitchfork article is actually pretty good, talking about kendrick and "classic" albums and what rap fans mean when they say that, definitely more interesting than his first two. and word people bemoaning hipsters is the worst!? did you see the ny times op-ed about irony? blegh!

totally agree with everything you said about gkmc, lots of awesome hooks memorable hoooks (promise that you will...sing...about me, bitch don't kill my vibe which thank god they didnt use the lady gaga version, i like kendrick's pitched up singing voice so much more than her trying to be soulful, i'm real too) and yeah backstreet freestyle is so awesome!! some of my friends on this trip complained because they wanted more of that on the album, which is true that its the only song thats really just about look how good of a rapper kendrick is, but i also think it might have gotten to be too much. and the skits, at first i thought they were a little overblow, but now i get basically teary listening to the last voicemail on i'm real from k-dot's mom, plus he needs to return that van!

ah i heard about that! actually his booking guy also represents Main Attrakionz so he contacted me about it a while ago but i just passed it off to Maru, how was the show?? his shoutbox was full of people saying he sucked live and was "hipster" garbage and he used a lot of vocal effects and wahhh hipsters someone in the crowd wore glasses and an ironic t-shirt boohoo (sorry 'bout that rant). anyway new tape's pretty good, but certainly not essential listening by any definition of the word. hows everything else going?

I've actually been meaning to get to that MIMEO album for a long while but I just haven't gotten around to it for so long. Thanks for the rec though, I'll definitely make sure to check it out sometime soon now.

Ahaha, do you say that because you've noticed that I take like 1000 years to respond to shouts? I've never been too consistent with internet conversations unfortunately. Unfortunately because I meet awesome people sometimes and I never talk to them! But easy was an interesting word to start with. Why easy?

my last new hollywood was argo. i attended primarily for bryan cranston. but also because affleck's got directing chops. it was very enjoyable, decent thriller moments, and i really was unaware of the hostage crisis in iran and it's a damn good story. and i don't know if it's new hollywood, but it definitely had some major players we'll look back on - i saw a movie called smashed last night with andre. i saw it for similar reasons to argo, in that aaron paul was in the trailer and apparently anyone from the cast of breaking bad is enough to get me in a seat. an addiction drama about a young married teacher who is an alcoholic getting recovered an having her marriage fall apart. great cast with nick offerman proving he is more than ron swanson and megan mullaly proving that where offerman goes she will follow.

i watched bridemaids with my mom a few months ago. i enjoyed it, but i was disappointed that tim had no lines. i made her fast forward through the dress fitting scene which made the movie much more enjoyable for me (can't stand the gross-out stuff, man). now that you have me thinking about it i wish there was a little more to do with the bridemaids. after the vegas incident (which was inspired to bait us with the "female hangover" thread and have it go nowhere) they all fade into the background to focus on the love interest, which maybe would have been cool to not have even though i liked the guy. the landmark female driven comedy of the decade could have gotten by without a love story? paul feig's WTF is rad, you should listen to it if you haven't. it was right during the award buzz for brides, so he's feeling good and the man has been responsible for a lot of good entertainment.

i adored cat soup! thanks for giving me that one. i watched it a while back, forgot to say something. heartbreaking. it just fuels my fire to make weird cryptic symbolic shit. metropolitan and last days are both mixed together in my memory. the film club!! haha, damn i wish we could've keep that going. never got to barcelona because in my stillman kick (in which i'm including kicking and screaming because it's essentially the stillman he didn't make) i think the dvd was out of print. i had no idea he even made a new one. my most vivid memory of animal house is the after the credits slide of "visit universal studios hollywood - ask for babs". whenever animal house gets brought up in the vincinity of my dad he talks about this documentary they made for Bio channel about how fucked up it was to make the thing. i think the making of is probably more interesting than the movie. same for caddy shack which had a similar Bio doc

lucky! i've known abut the whole thing for years which contributed to why it took me so long to see it. the book is all scrapbook, newspaper clippings and stuff right? that shit is usually unfilmable so of course that's the direction they're taking the new remake in. chloe moretz is so cute it's illogical to imagine her being an outcast like carrie. and jesus, they're putting social networking in it. i read far to much about it, obviously. there's a weird thing out there in films where everyone wants to remake stephen king novels more faithful to the books. i don't think we need to see carrie destroy the town. dude de palma is where it's at! have you seen phantom of the paradise? this goes way back to myspace convos but again i'm gonna recommend a viewing.
