I'm not sure who told me you were a Physiothrerapist, hahaha, I think I may have confused that with someone else or something. I'm doing my HND in electronics just now... training to be a sparky is a totally different kettle of fish from treating ill people. hahaha. Plus it rules living at home again and being fed and all that. Been touring round any obscure ass countries lately?

Yeah, I heard the same thing about the new Mastadon. Apparently they've also ventured into pure prog-rock territory, except that they aren't very good at it. I've never been hugely into Mastadon though, but whatever. Lately, I haven't been listening to much albums at all, or at least nothing new anyway. BUT I've recently discovered the "Jazz on 3" program on Radio 3 on Mondays at 11:00pm, so I've been recording those religiously with my sky box. They're always really interesting shows, and I've discovered/rediscovered some really cool bands through it like Food, The Necks, Mostly Other People Do the Killing, Darcy James Argue's Secret Society. A lot of free-improv stuff has been played on there lately, some really life-affirming stuff. I recommend checking out their podcasts.

It's actually quite freaky that you mentioned Opeth actually. I had gone off of them majorly in the past couple of years, probably from listening to them way too much, so I hadn't listened to them in ages... then I heard "Bleak" in a random youtube video literally last week and nostalgia'd like fuck. So I spent a good hour or two listening to some of their old stuff on youtube, and realised that a lot of their shit is still sounds as awesome and fresh as it did when I first heard it 6~7 years ago. I fucking love that feeling~~~ (And by the way, I am splendid, yourself? Someone was telling me you're a physical therapist or something now, is that true or are you still doing the medic game?)

I've heard a couple of the new songs on youtube - "The Devil's Orchard" and "Marrow of The Earth", I think. While I'm not particularly sure that it will appeal to me, I imagine probably download it at some point anyway. Random thoughts so far: It appears that they've taken a bunch of musical ideas and threw them all together in a really haphazard way... a lot of riffs/melodies that don't really go anywhere, and some that weren't very interesting/memorable to begin with. Saying that, I'm actually really digging their new cleaner direction... so I'm hoping they'll mature upon some of these ideas and create something a bit tighter with more meat next time.

Man, people don't have anything against GfD, they're just trolling and stuff. Amazing taste btw, anyone who likes PT and BoC has all of my respect

Did you get a lift to Porcupine Tree...? WIsh I had known so I could have scrounged one back! Planned to go before I got current job but just would have been a pain in the ass with work today. How was it? As I am sure you are aware I have many more weird tech metal/mathcore type stuff since I last spoke to you :P
