Artists I've seen live, part one

I need to go to sleep, so I'll start this with just one concert, but it was a biggie.

These artists all performed for the Concert for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, September 1995.
I was not very sober that night. Much of this evening is not remembered. We didn't expect our $30 seats (In the nosebleeds, obstructed by speakers and stuff) would be needed by HBO in the last minute, and they put us on the 20-yard line. I was already kinda hammered before we got through the gates at Municipal Stadium. But oh well. I was able to cross off a lot of artists on my "must see" list that night.

Here's who I recall performed:

Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Melissa Etheridge, John Mellencamp, Jon Bon Jovi, Al Green, Pretenders,Johnny Cash, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, John Fogerty,Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, George Clinton & The P-Funk All-Stars, Bruce Springsteen, Natalie Merchant, Jackson Browne, Bruce Hornsby, Bob Dylan, Booker T & The MG's, Sam Moore, Allman Brothers Band, Jackson Browne, Dr. John, Sheryl Crow, Little Richard, Carole King,Robbie Robertson, Heart, Slash, Martha and The Vandellas, Soul Asylum, G.E. Smith, Gin Blossoms, The Kinks, Eric Burdon

I recall that the best performaces were surprising: Al Green rocked the house like no other, and the trio of Robbie Robertson, Sheryl Crow, and Dr. John doing The Weight, just really worked well.

That's a hell of a line-up, even if you have got Jackson Browne down twice! The best performances often are the surprising ones, especially at a gig with so many legends performing.
