Yeah you've said already, I get it. You don't like it :P. New Converge is great by the way. Don't like it as much Axe to Fall but I've only listened to the new album once. So that could change. Jane Doe is obviously the best.

Its hard to take your opinion seriously when you have flip flopped your opinion on several bands which always conveniently fits in with the so called "sputnik elite". But oh well, if that is what you honestly think then so be it. I can understand what your saying about the production on the album but the rest I definitely disagree with. I haven't heard the new Neurosis song yet but I've heard its awesome.

Lol nah it isn't, typically you fall in line with the sputnik cool kid consensus. Just like you did with Neurosis (And I was telling you Neurosis were good before you got into them).

phyrgian mode? the phyrgian mode is commonly used in metal as a lot of metal is played in minor, its not just old school death metal bands using it. In that case, i could say Metallica are boring because they use the phyrgian mode, they use it a lot as well. Yet to you Metallica is like the greatest band ever. And no Metallica were not the first metal band to use that either, so don't try and come out with 'But Metallica was influential using that scale in Metal', because they weren't. Yes, BTBAM does use a lot of sweeps and arpeggios, particularly in Alaska and Colors, but i think they use it in a much more interesting way and are much more developed songwriters. If you compare the song writing in Colors to now there is a huge improvement there, and even in Colors there was at least some form of direction and you could hear different themes being repeated.

also, 'the level of musicianship of tha vs the level of musicianship of those poorly produced garbage can bands isnt even a contest worth having '. If were talking about being technical and classically trained musicians then yes, the human abstract in that sense indeed have a higher degree of musicianship. But if you talking about writing about actual concise riffs and not having a wank full of sweeps and Arpeggios then no im sorry, you are wrong. Bands like Pestilence, Incantation, Adramelech and Immolation are so much better in writing concise riffs throughout songs and albums than the human abstract will ever be. It also doesnt mean shit if you're shit at songwriting, something THA have been poor at throughout their entire career. You can have as high degree of musicianship as you want but it doesnt mean shit if you cant actually song write.

lol @ you. Arguing that because its not the most pristine cleanly produced album that its poor production. Just because THA for example has pristine production doesnt mean necessarily mean that it has good production (not saying it doesn't) and vice versa. You can have raw, unpolished production and still be a well produced album and many OSDM bands have that raw unpolished production which works well with the abrasive and sometimes atmospheric music they produce. Its absolutely laughable that you call autopsy and pestilence 'wannabe old school death metal' when they both formed in the 80's and had their standout records in the late 80's/early 90's during the first wave of death metal. Im pretty sure thats old school and not 'wannabe old school.' Shows you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to death metal.
