that's true, it can sometimes work, obviously dach's "roof" being a good example and the rodrigues/guerreiro recordings too, particularly contrasted with say the digital silences on the first disc of raku sugifatti, which i find far too dry. it's a delicate balance. there's a double cd of frey/malfatti coming up on erstwhile which was recorded at amann studios who always do a superb job though

nice, yeah need to revisit DV and check out Kid Ailack 5. Wechseljahre Einer Hyäne (for sax quartet) is another that I've been enjoying. he does have a lot of great stuff but it's a little tricky to navigate because of the very mixed recording quality and also some of the electronic realizations on b-boim which I am less keen on, although I think his willingness to publish works in that form is revealing. a lot of wandelweiser stuff remains unrecorded altogether.

your last 7 days thing has some hilarious juxtapositions right now haha, love it. have you heard malfatti's self-titled disc on edition wandelweiser? def. recommended, one of my favs. it's also his first statement in that area of music (the solo piece was his first composition in that style iirc)

also, i have a good chunk of rlw's discography downloaded but haven't listened to any of it ugh. i remember avarance gave points of reference 5 stars on rym so i wanted to hear that. how does the new one compare to the older stuff?

the only collab i've heard is double wash iirc. i never got around to les 120 jours or the werchowski one because i'm too lazy but i'll prob get around to them soon. the more i listen to his stuff the more he's becoming one of my absolute favorite artists. seriously every single thing from him has been definitely worth the listen gah.

Yea I think I generally agree, A Measure Of Ground has a lot of really interesting sounds but it does feel a bit stale/dry (though I think that also is related to the timbre of the sounds too). I definitely prefer Pictures of Men. -- I think it'll end up in my top 50. And I'm pretty excited to listen to the RLW release. It's the only one on Jon's list that I haven't listened to yet that's on what already. And thanks for the shipping number and everything, super excited to get it :+)

yea, the singles from her first album are better than anything else she's done. my sister and cousins used to dance to christina aguilera's songs a lot lol. genie in a bottle, what a girl wants, and come on over (my favorite) are all really good. the latter two sound a bit more outdated but i like it even more because of that i think
