Change that to a white Fiero and you got my high school ride. Or should I say my SWEET high school ride.

I only have a half formed opinion about the new PB because I haven't got the whole thing yet. (wondering if I should make the investment) Although I told you I thought Mr Noah was a weak track, I found myself unconsciously whistling it over the weekend, so maybe it isn't so bad. I do feel like he possibly wrote that after he heard the Slasher Flicks album. (That is merely speculation. I doubt this actually happened)

i see! well i'll give it a go and see how I get along. Nonetheless thanks for your informative response. See some nice synth pop/electronic artists. A genre I'm just starting to scratch the surface. Find it amazing that someone can be aware of a genre, however for one reason or another hasn't/won't explore it. Then whether it be days/months or years down the road it appears to be a revelation to them.

Hey! You've unintentionally made me aware of "SoundHound" I was just curious, is it your primary tool for discovering music? And if so why do you rate it above its rivals? I use shazam but been finding it lets me down a little to often these days....

Lips used to be one of those bands that would get me to buy nearly every release. No so much anymore. I have very little interest in the Sgt. Pepper album. Some decent guests, but nothing that would make me excited about the project. - I think Jay is still on board with that band...to a degree. We've not talked about them too much but I do get a vibe that he isn't as into them as he used to be. He didn't seem to enjoy the The Terror, last ep or Heady Fwiends. To me those albums redeemed that band after At War, Embryonic and their entire 2011 output. (Not completely but still.)

The 'Logos' leak was taken from Bradford's Mediafire account, without permission, he was quite pissed about it. He was talking about shelving the whole album for a while. It was a rough copy he uploaded there for one of his friends to preview that wasn't intended to be public. Since that is the sole source of the leak, and that copy was 128 kb/s, there is no better copy outside of Bradford's hands. But, excepting track #7, everything on the leak ended up on Logos or was posted on his blog. Most of the blog tracks were 192 kb/s. What is it that you're looking for on the Logos leak?

You're right, the 'chu does feel off. Not happy. But I've found new love in little mac, shulk, megaman and pac man. Down for some communal smash this weekend...

Be me to it! I was just coming here to make light of it myself. Honestly, beyond the Las Vegas reunion thing, I thought the classic line up revival was a bad career move for Bob. Oh well, now I don't have to fret about which show to go to, Columbus or Dayton. So, smash Saturday?

I totally agree. At some point I was planning on replacing the hard drive in mine, but now I'm not sure. In light of the ipod classic death notice I feel I ought to buy a 160gb while I still can. I'm also not too impressed by the new watch they're pushing. I hate that it is so expensive and it still has to be synched to the iphone, but perhaps they know that their fanboys will lap up anything with an "i" in the name. When someone finally makes a stand alone watch that has video capabilities, then I might take notice. (Who am I kidding? I haven't worn a watch in 20 years.)

You are almost practically English. By the way, if you know someone who became pregnant today - it is because I was listening to Isaac Hayes. I did follow up with Pearl Jam though which might have canceled out the effect of Hot Buttered Soul.

  • RolloSuplex

Wow, a Scott Weiland scrobble? Huh. Okay then. Next time you are searching online see if you can find a song "from" that album called Lazy Divey. I say "from" because it was on the advance promo disc but was removed for the official release. Too bad because it was the best track on that disc.

  • RolloSuplex

Nice! That is a perfect example of a band that I rarely think about until I stumble upon an album. Then I always think "damn this is pretty good. Why don't I listen to this more?" I have no answer to that question.

I have listened to it too much for being a low quality stream but I can't help it! I love the thing. To me, it's like an abstract creation like Oneohtrix Point Never's albums.. just in the hiphop world instead of synth psych. Those warm tones.. as soon as the first track starts I'm laying back, ready to receive the beautiful sounds.

  • optimistic_tour

Oh my god I can't stop listening to it. It's like an OPN or Autechre of a rap album! Totally fractured but all the little bits add up to this lush, dreamy sound I'm just addicted to. Not sure if I'll love it more than Black Up but it's already hitting me hard... can't wait to hear the real full HQ deal when I get my vinyl and 320 download!!

I may still have my Shimmy Disc Pod cassette somewhere, it had blue metallic ink on a transparent case, which was nearly all worn off the last time I glimpsed it. GbV may be the band I carry to the grave, but The Pod was the first record to really blow my mind. Still does.

    Giugno 2014
  • dukeofthegrill

Wow, original Shimmy Disc copy of The Pod sells for nearly $200. There's also an original Propeller on ebay, cover is a photo of Kevin with porn 'stache passed out on the couch wearing one of the early fan club t-shirts. Unsigned. One bid at $700 so far. If I were the kind of guy who occasionally "fell into money" or was awarded bonuses, I'd have a couple of those.

I hung out with duke the other night and while talking about crappy old movies I suggested the 1983 turd Get Crazy. (although I enjoyed it for nostalgia's sake. I remember watching it on HBO at my cousin's one Saturday night in 1984. We watched Get Crazy as well as this very Night Ranger concert on Mtv) So we watch it (...ohhh my....it's bad) and sharp eared duke says "That sounds like Sparks" Sure enough.....

Re: your shouts; Sung Tongs is 10? How the fuck did that happen? AC still seems like a "new" band to me. -- I might have indeed written that article. The author sure did manage to capture my attitude, especially about Embryonic ["it seemed like more of a collection of interesting (but ultimately shapeless and sort of boring) soundscapes than actual songs."]<-- exactly! However (unlike the author) I do think our recent Zaireeka spin was quite rewarding. -- I was going to send you the exact same Pharcyde shout. I was listening on my way home from work and realized that I was hearing different mixes of "I'm That Type.." and "Passin' Me By". It was rather surprising. (wasn't expecting extra beats, scratching and the like) -- Jay coming into the hip hop fold? Highly unlikely. He's just into good reissues that show up on his radar. The Ghetto Brothers, for example, was hipped to him via Spanish Gold because they did a cover/single for Record Store Day.

I saw that. I have no idea what goes on in that dude's life to get him to scrobble that. Or how he's scrobbleing period. This site isn't even on his radar. For proof go to that Spanish Gold last.fm page. Pretty much a blank page and the album comes out today. (his release, by the way)

Well for once Jay Hray had some good recent purchases. Plus we kind of had to go to see these guys which I didn't mind because they were not bad. I did try to hip him to some Columbus jazz I picked up near his apartment.
