Ahh the album is amazing, totally addicted to it at the moment. Now you've mentioned it, I'm going to have to play it, haha.

Music you have in common includes Jack White, Spiritualized, We Are Augustines, Great Lake Swimmers and The National. >> This is getting better!

Ey, what do you make of Noel's new album? I'm sampling it now. Definitely digging If I Had a Gun, AKA What a Life, and Stop the Clocks. It seems like a nice change of pace, better than I expected. Glad to see it sold well (well, apart from the part about it being released on a major label).

What a clash of personalities: I'm not a chatty type and you want at least one shout from passing visitors/friends. Well you get what you ask for. Quite a nice collection you've got here. I'd love to have a look around.

What do you make of the new Magazine album? The classic trio of albums stands the test of time, so I'm curious if they've still got it at all. When you think about it, post-punk has been one of the most influential genres out there.

Btw, I see you've been listening to The War on Drugs. They're a pretty ace "revivalist" act, aren't they? The new one is not tacky or overly derivative, like a lot of acts inspired by Springsteen/Dylan/etc., thank god. Mixes in some like, shoegaze kind of sounds too. One of the better albums I've heard this year.

Ah, lucky you! Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like that whole Britpop thing (and I know the Roses aren't "true" Britpop so much as like, the godfathers of it) was really the last big, national music movement in the UK. Certainly the last big rock one. Yeah, you get some smaller phenoms like the garage rock revival, the whole Bloc Party sort of thing and all those "indie" bands, Coldplay (who are barely rock in a sense), but it wasn't Oasis at Knebworth '96. I wasn't there, yet even I'm nostalgic for that time! Music still rolls on, but the amount of quality mainstream stuff, stuff that will be listened to for more than a few months... it's pretty dire.

You're absolutely right about the national, one of the best goin around right now - i have another opportunity to see them live again this year so im really lookin forward to that. for someone who is "middle aged" you've got some really good taste in music haha
