  • Beatles? Who's that?

    Ago 22 2006, 5:42

So due to the fact that my mom has been living in a hole for 46 years (and for some reason I wasn't affected), I've decided to educate her on some essential songs of the last...oh....6 decades.

mom once asked me who The Beatles were. I should have known then that it was time for some serious schooling. She hates any song that doesn't sound sappy and lyrical with a crooning high-pitched male voice. So I don't expect her to like any of it. I just think she at least should have heard them before her mid-life crisis.

some of the songs I have added so far:
    Dust in the Wind
    Hey Jude
    Under Pressure
    London Calling
    More Than a Feeling
    Light My Fire
    Faith
    Imagine
    Crimson and Clover
    Highway to Hell
    (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
    Carry on Wayward Son
    Like a Rolling Stone
I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight
    Don't Stop Believin'
    Behind Blue Eyes
    You're The Inspiration
    Stairway to Heaven (of course)

Step 1: Open up whatever MP3 program you use and add every song in your collection.

Step 4: Post and let everyone guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 5: Bold the songs that someone guesses correctly.
Step 6: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!

  • my first real concert in new york

    Mar 31 2006, 5:35

So after trying many times I finally went to a concert of a band that I wanted to see: the Editors. They were really good live at the Webster (somewhere in NYU territory). The Big Sleep opened up for them.

They played most of the songs from their album but also the B-side (my personal favorite) You Are Fading. the lead singer was definitely tripping on something. incredible show though. go see them!
  • Anti-war concert

    Mar 21 2006, 21:56

Yesterday marked the third anniversary of the War in Iraq. I went to the Hammerstein Ballroom here in New York City where many bands played in a benefit concert. Some of the headliners were Michael Stipe, Rufus Wainright, Bright Eyes , Fischerspooner , and Peaches. Moby made a surprise appearance. Margaret Cho was there and so was Susan Serandon.

    Let's bring our troops home.
