Hey--How are you doing?? I see that you've been digging into the scandinaves. Much of the lyrics are really beautiful--but not much translater unfortunately!! One also hear the old traditional tunes in much of the tracks. I simply love the old swedish traditional music. So different almost from parish to parish. How about your painting???? I had a terrible blocking. Almost a year in fear of the empty canvasses, but it's over--luckely. Haven't got a website yet. Keep on judging it too hooker-like. How can anyone buy a painting they haven't touched??? Hahah--like an arranged marriage ;´)) Have a nice day. Bitten

Thank you Mark. How are you? Do you know when the new album is out? Their MySpace and Official Website seem silent on the release apart from a message last year saying the album would be out this Summer. Cheers Chris

I like it. I am not precious about Jon Anderson no longer being the vocalist - it is the music that matters and the new guy does a creditable job. The album has a consistent quality throughout with the final track being a stand-out track and the rest good. However the total package makes it one of the stronger albums of the year.

Hey! Saw that you've been passing by:-) Hope that you're fine. I've got lots of new names, but they seem to be put into the library a little here and there!!!! Moving Gelatine Plates, Sebkha-Chott and Tomorrows Gift are among the new--and more interesting ones!! Have a nice evening!!! Bitten

Hey!!Thanks for your friend request!! I played the radio belonging to Landberk, and lots of nice bands kept "popping" up!! Among them---Morte macabre!!! Really a fine band!!!! I like the more heavy bands, which tracks have sort of pondus!! There's too much easy music!! Have a good day. I don't know how the weather is behaving at your place, but here it's a bit rainy!! I like the colours outside, when it's cloudy-----all these shades of green. It's amazing!

Hey!! A bit late. (Seems that I'm born badmannered :-))) I've been skimming the link. As you said--a good source-------almost overwhelming!!! Just so much bands I've never even heard of!! One good thing is, that you're able to find most of the names either on Last.fm or YouTube. I see that you've heard some of Gösta Berling's tracks recently!! How do you feel about that band??? I heard Wobbler for the first time this morning!! Made me think of the tundra!!! Have a nice weekend!!--------------And. Who have made your avatar??? I really like these crisp colours!!

Thanks for your link. It will be interesting to see how much of it being real prog--and how much " a hog in armour"!! There will be names enough for a Saturday afternoon :-))) You see. Secret Oyster was a typical Jazzbeat band--like Blue Sun and a couple of others. In the 50's and 60's there were lots of Jazz going on in DK. Fine bands--Nice Clubs and lots of foreigners doing "run ins" to try off their music on danish stages. Out of these bands sounds, grew a sort of mixed music = the jazzbeat. Now called prog.rock!! The psychedelic genre grew from the rock ('n roll) instead. Also these guys were growing tired of straight rules ---and with a little help from some chemicals (more or less pittoresque hmm hmm!) they also got flying!! So the reason for not mentioning Secret Oyster (Band) is, that it was mostly the real jazzguys who listened to them!!--------------Sorry--I'm talking too much!!

Wow thank you. Many new bands here, I must confess I have not heard of most of these. Certainly all absent from my library. One or two have been close to a purchase. One I expected to see was secret oyster another band that I have nearly purchased an album. I will let you know how I get on. Many thanks once again Mark.

Danes. OK--here comes the flood::Pan, Alrune Rod,Bifrost,Day of Phoenix, Steppeulvene, savage Rose, Blast Furnace (which I think is to your likings),Culpeper's Orchard,Den Gamle Mand og Havet, Rainbow Band and 2 good new ones Causa Sui and Dizzy Mizz Lizzy. They are all progressive bands. Some smelling of Laughing Tobacco and Some of Jazzy ancestors!!!!-----Causa Sui I would place under Stoner Rock! Use them as entrences and you will find most others.

Hey!! If you like Kebnekajse, You maybe also would like Some of Dungen's more "Local tracks" a.o. Their first album and "Stadsvandringar" It's a mixture of prog and the traditional folkmusic from Dalarna and up north. Ha ha..--and my favourite: Philemon Arthur &The Dung!! There's a fine link/shop for Swedish music: www.cdon.com and another one for oldies/vinyl and prog "en mass".www.karma.dk

I only have the two albums from Kebnekajse, Idioten and III. Both great but I am really liking Idioten. I will have to listen to their other albums. Although most of the music I listen to is under the progressive rock banner there is always room for a few folk, folk/rock album. Idioten already been played over twenty times.

I like the music of Kebnekajse, is creative and brilliant, I think. I love its first albums. Idioten is a good album too, but it's new to me and I'm listening to it very 'slowly' (I've listened only a few times until now). What about you, did you liked it?

I listened to a lot (probably too much) of God is an Astronaut and Explosions in the Sky was around the same time so probably suffered as a result. Now I tend to keep coming come back to bands like Maybeshewill and 65daysofstatic rather than classic post rock although more recently I have really enjoyed Collapse Under the empire, Ef and Soup.

Both their earlier albums are good but Not for want of trying has the He films the clouds track so just edges it over Sing the word hope in four part harmony

I agree Mark, the Yes albums were created at a time when bands were under contractual pressure to produce too many albums - the albums of my youth always seemed to have filler tracks, thankfully something you see less of nowawdays. I shall check out the Wobbler videos - I can't see them on their Homepage. Are they on Youtube?

    Giugno 2011
  • CeeJaiGee

You were right - the new Wobbler album is really compulsive listening - I am really enjoying it. A touch of Yes nostalgia with fine melodies. The Wolverine album is not quite so good but not bad.

Hope it was worth the wait. My eMusic sub is 10 days away still. Do you read Classic Rock Presents Prog - good tracks by Wobbler and Wolverine this month?

I just loved it. Efter Efter is very, very good, all the songs are special, very well played, wonderfully singing - I'm not surprised, this is usual in all of their musical production. I'm happy and deeply touched for listen to their new album. And Glorious War is simply fantastic, has a "touch of geniality", if I can say in this way. Well, as you know, I am a big fan of Trettioåriga Kriget :-)

Marillion's post Fish albums are similar to IQ's later releases, another favourite of yours. Marbles is a superb album, especially the longer tracks.

  • CeeJaiGee

Thanks again Mark. Yes I thought there must be a good reason why PoS do not feature. I also noticed that you don't listen to Marillion, another band with a lead singer that favours intense vocals. Daniel Gildenlow and Steve Hogarth are both talented and personally I think my library would be incomplete without them - but it is all a question of personal choice/ taste. Cheers Chris

Yes, I guess that is why I came across your wall as I am going through a bit of a Swedish Prog obsession at the moment. Do you listen to rock as well - I recommend Madrugada, a fine Norwegian rock band - you must know The Kids are on High Street, one of their best known songs? I see you have a couple of listens to Lalle Larsson - Infinity of Worlds is in my opinion one of the best albums of last year. By the way, found some Gösta Berlings Saga on Spotify - I am impressed. Best wishes Chris
