And about Papir, I've seen them 3 times now and the musicianship is so excellent and they play with so much fun onstage -as in grinning like crazy- that I can't imagine anyone hating on them. And Causa Sui, yes, last time @ Freak Valley 2013 was epic. You NEED TO see them, trust me.

Well, that patricular song is one beautiful slow sacred piece of epicness, I have to agree with you on that. A little bit in the same vein is the epic Bird People decompression sessions subtitled 'telepathisc emissions from the ancient mystery cult of Bird people' :) Especially the first two songs... Less eerie and rooted in nature than Burzum yes but truly awesome...

oh. you are absolutely right about DOM. i find theirs music oppressive. but every time i begin to listen DOM i can`t stop :) honestly, my taste in music it is not only my attainment. there is one man who discovered kraut for me. of course i`m interested not only in kraut. i like progressive rock and jazz. but as you can see i have a rather small library. so it would be great, if you recommend something to me :) yes, it is really awesome to meet somebody who have a similar musical taste with me :)

Hey, I won't. Thanks for the raving review! I saw Papir (again) last weekend and I can't stop loving them...go see them live. Also, the most amazing Cult Of Dom Keller pretty much nailed it. The Golden Grass kicked major ass too (with Adam from La Otracina)...last week was a good week for live music it seems... ;)

Ydebru told me that their album was the most mysterious krautrock record. Most people thought it was a joke and the band didnt even exist. His face looks familiar but i dont remember if i saw any movie with him. No, i didnt. Addis sounds too smiliar to his father but without his mystique...

By the way, the record I am talking about from the first band mentioned, it's this one, as for Un Festin Sagital, this is their bandcamp https://unfestinsagital.bandcamp.com/, if you are interested tell me what you thought from these bands after you listened to them, would be neat to hear thoughts from you!

Hello Majo (can I call you like that?, haha) No problem, I am glad to see your interest for that kind of music, if you ever need more recs on ambient/drone, just ask me, I'm open to help you :), by the way, if you want some serious psych funk-zeuhl jazz-prog-fusion. I give you this personal recommendation, maybe you have heard of it, or not, regardless, I think it is an amazing record that I think you might dig (it is not too heavy though, don't know if that could be a problem for you), too bad it's almost impossible to find a physical copy of it now, and there is also another group I would recommend you, it is a local band from my country called Un Festín Sagital, they have a quite varied sound throughout their discography, from avant-prog with Zeuhl mixes, to psych avant folk, Legendary Pink Dots are part of their inspiration.

Yes, that compilation is good place to start. Urfaust's discography is quite a mixed bag actually as they like to experiment a lot. Their demo "Urvaterlicher Sagen" and the first album "Geist ist Teufel" even features purely ambient material in the vein of Klaus Schulze and "remixed" versions of Arvo Pärt's songs, among other things. But from the full-length albums I consider "Der freiwillige Bettler" from 2010 to be the strongest one. And I of course had forgotten to mention to you Verdunkeln, comrades of A. von Meilenwald of TRoB. Their album "Einblick in den Qualenfall" is a magnificent work, really able to transport one to some archaic faerie tale realm, with all the wonders and dangers inherent... Songs like "Der Quell" & "Auf freiem Felde" could be of particular interest to you, in the light of your yesterday's question.. And yes, that MO album sounds as good as it looks, even better, I should say.. :)

What a magnificent theme by ATribe, you have such a refine taste. My fav is Luck of Lucien or, maybe, Electric Relaxation. For me, hip hop is the modernism of jazz heritage, and A Tribe are one of the goods!

[2] Midnight Odyssey is another musician that could be of interest to you. I like almost everything by him, but I particularly reccommend tracks "Journey across the Sea", "Spirit of the Winter Mountain", "Salvation denied", "Against the Moonlight" & "Tears of Starfire" (although I'd say basically everything from the album "Funerals from the Astral Sphere" is worth a listen (or many listens)...). There's probably something else that I have forgotten at the moment, anyway, I hope this helps & happy listening..!

Hello, it's nice to hear about your experience with TRoB, as I have had a lot of precious moments with his music and consider him one of my all-time favorite musicians. Unfortunately, I don't think I have heard a lot of similar stuff that uses such vocals, but there is some that comes to mind instantly. You could try his previous album, "Rain upon the Impure", as it has a lot of wonderful atmospheres and beautiful episodes, particulary songs like "Soliloquy of the Stigmatised Shepherd" and "Soil of the Incestuous", although some say it is a difficult listen... I consider that album a masterpiece. Try also the band Urfaust, as they use a very expressive semi-operatic clean vocals which create a unique atmosphere. I recommend songs like "Ragnarök Mystiker", "IX: Der Einsiedler", "Vom Gesicht und Rätsel", "Der Mensch, die kleine Narrenwelt" & "Der Halbtoten Dichters Schein-Existenz".

I don't know if there's anything quite like the choral singing on Foulest Semen. Meilenwald has a very deep timbre to his clean vocals. His latest album Blood Vaults is probably your best bet. I also recommend Andacht by Lunar Aurora, there's some great choral parts on that album. But, as I said, they don't quite create that same atmosphere ( I like to think of it as biblical) that Meilenwald does.

That's a pity because it really is something special, hopefully you'll find another way to see it! Try this song by Henry Cow, I think you'll enjoy it! Most of those Duke Ellington plays are from the 24CD boxset "The Centennial Edition" so I don't know the name of respective albums. I assume most of them were taken from singles because of precise 3 minute length. For me the best ones are Ellington Uptown and Duke Ellington's Far East Suite. I'd recommend you both albums especially the latter. Far East Suite consists of some of the richest and most beautiful jazz compositions, almost as if sparks are flying during the performances of every individual in the band! The ones Duke recorded with John Coltrane and Max Roach/Charles Mingus are also brilliant!

Awesome, I dig it very much! Thanks, Majo! At some points towards the end of the song it reminds me a little bit of Miles Davis fusion album Agharta. I think I'll explore some more krautrock very soon. This month my musical priority was to explore Henry Cow. Excellent rock in opposition band from legendary canterbury scene. There's a strong link between rock in opposition and 20th century classical music so I'm enjoying it a lot! Btw I see some great new photos on your lonely lights tumblr, keep up with the work! ;)
