Yo, check out my (Francis Borgia)s new single "Event Horizon" with the band Signal. It might not be the lacanian Real, and the designated phenomenon was falsified during recording sessions, but it might be of interest :)

Is there any chance you can send me Hail's Live at the Burial Grounds and Lemminkäinen demos? I seem to have slept on the opportunity to purchase the latter in time, unless there are still sellers selling them that I don't know about, and I'm not even sure what the former is (I can't find any information about it from Metal Archives). I may pick up the Blood Revenge of Death cassette from Discogs since it isn't obscenely expensive yet.

Ah, I love Zizek too - awesome, bro. I was born in Slovakia too and that is about the only other cool thing from there that anyone has heard of. And Idiot's Parade.

Thank you! I saw it at work and started sweating hard but I am really surprised and I think its pretty funny, considering I don't have any idea what I'm doing in terms of production/mastering but somehow still good enough to get into pitchfork hmmm

Thank you for turning me on to Barren Harvest. I've been really enjoying you and the rest of HSS staff reviews. You lack that pretentiousness that tends to plague most bloggers. If you give a criticism, it's honest, thoughtful and not once did I feel that it was misplaced and out-of-hand. Fantastic stuff, sir. Would love to contribute come summer time, if possible, but keep up the good work. Will you be attending Gilead Fest?

How good is Necros Christos, tho. Stoked to see them finally, at MDF. I can't understand why Grave Miasma isn't playing that fest. And I'm not sure why I'm telling this to you via shout, ha.

Please don't send me a fucking private message asking me to send you a link, unless it's out of print and unavailable for purchase. Only then might I consider your request. Support the artists and fucking buy it.

Slavoj Žižek may be the "most dangerous philosopher in the West," and in my opinion, one of the world's most brilliant cultural theorists, but he also wants to touch your boobies. Can't fault a man for trying, eh?

When any public protest against Israeli Defense Forces activities in the West Bank is flatly denounced as an expression of anti-Semitism, and - implicitly, at least - put in the same category as defense of the Holocaust - that is to say, when the shadow of the Holocaust is permanently evoked in order to neutralize any criticism of Israeli military and political operations - it is not enough to insist on the difference between anti-Semitism and the critique of particular measures taken by the State of Israel; we should go a step further and claim that it is the State of Israel, which, in this case, is desecrating the memory of the Holocaust victims: ruthlessly manipulating them, instrumentalizing them into a means of legitimizing current political measures.

~Slavoj Žižek

How much longer will the poor and dark West, the "international community" of those who still think of themselves as masters of the world, continue to give lessons of good management and behavior to the whole planet? Isn't it laughable to see certain intellectuals on duty, disconcerted soldiers of the capitalist-parliamentarism that stands as a shabby paradise for us, offering themselves to the magnificent Tunisian and Egyptian peoples in order to teach these savage populations the basics of "democracy"? What a distressing persistence of colonial arrogance! Given the miserable political situation that we are experiencing, isn't it obvious that is is us who have everything to learn from the current popular uprisings? Shouldn't we, in all urgency, closely study what has made possible the overthrow through collective action of governments that are oligarchic, corrupt and - possibly, above all - humiliatingly the vassals of Western States?

-Alain Badiou

"With the Aurora Borealis flaming coldly overhead, or the stars leaping in the frost dance, and the land numb and frozen under its pall of snow, this song of the huskies might have been the defiance of life, only it was pitched in minor key, with long-drawn wailing and half-sobs, and was more the pleading of life, the articulate travail of existence. It was an old song, old as the breed itself - one of the first songs of the younger world in a day when songs were sad. It was invested with the woe of unnumbered generations..."

Jack London, "The Call of the Wild"

It is an unfortunate fact the bulk of humanity is too limited in its mental vision to weigh with patience and intelligence those isolated phenomena, seen and felt only by a psychologically sensitive few, which lie outside its common experience. Men of broader intellect know that there is no sharp distinction betwixt the real and the unreal; that all things appear as they do only by virtue of the delicate individual physical and mental media through which we are made conscious of them; but the prosaic materialism of the majority condemns as madness the flashes of super-sight which penetrate the common veil of obvious empiricism.

-H.P. Lovecraft
