I promote gigs in Manchester (and sometimes other places). If you like the bands I listen to, chances are you'll like the nights I put on - see below for more information.

Upcoming:

>> Copenhagen's Choir of Young Believers make their headlining debut at Dulcimer on Tuesday 26 January. Rolling Stone said of them: '‘It was like hearing Radiohead’s Thom Yorke in the middle of a Sixties Roy Orbison single. Let the buzz begin.’ Support from Table

>> On the eve of this year's Pavement reunion, I've got drummer Steve West's own band Marble Valley playing. This one's also at Dulcimer, on Thursday 28 January

>> Simon Tong (The Verve/Blur) has an excellent band called Erland and the Carnival. I'm promoting their show at The Deaf Institute on Wednesday 17 February

>> The next day, I'm back at The Deaf Institute to put on one of Manchester's brightest hopes for 2010: Jesca Hoop. The Guardian said: ‘There’s a thin line between genuine eccentricity and precious affectation of weirdness, but Jesca Hoop walks it well.' Thursday 18 February for this one

>> The Magnetic Fields anyone? I've got them playing at Manchester Cathedral on Friday 19 March - their only northern show, and their first in Manchester since 2004. It will sell out

>> I'm promoting a short UK tour for (according to Last.fm) my favourite band, The Album Leaf! This one isn't until March, but they visit Bristol's Thekla on the 21st, The Deaf Institute on the 22nd, and London's Bush Hall on the 23rd. Whoop!

>> Just a matter of days after The Magnetic Fields' Cathedral show, we're back there for one of Britain's favourite alternative bands: Tindersticks. This special show will take place on Tuesday 23 March

>> Welcome back Toronto's Picastro, for their first trip to Manchester since 2007! They play at Dulcimer on Thursday 25 March. 'Comparisons to Godspeed You Black You Emperor! and Dirty Three are inevitable, but Picastro also lay down all sorts of eastern European folk vibes’

>> Then a few days later, on Monday 29 March fellow Canadians The Besnard Lakes are also playing at Dulcimer. ‘They’ve retrofitted classic-rock grandeur to indie-rock dimensions and forged their own special niche – space-rock that’s down to Earth’

>> Have you ever heard of Vashti Bunyan? Chances are you have. I'm putting this folk legend on at the RNCM on 2 May 2010. Support comes from Adrian Crowley
