    8. Do any of your friends like #3?

    20. What genre is #37?
    R&B.

  • It seems as though I only use this journal for memes.

    Giu 12 2008, 18:05

Write the top 10 artists from your last.fm page. Then write the first song you heard, what song made you love them, and current favorite song.

    1. The Supremes [9,430 plays]
First song: Either "Baby Love," or "Where Did Our Love Go." They're pretty much the same song anyway.
Song that made me love them: "Stop! In The Name of Love." I loved mimicking the choreography as a young lad.
Current favorite: "Bye Baby" is my favorite at the moment. I like it because it's so bluesy and unlike most of the stuff they released in their earlier days.

    2. Frankie Avalon [3,963 plays]
First song: I believe it was either "Venus," or "Bobby Sox to Stockings." This is another case where both songs sound the same.
Song that made me love them: "Bobby Sox to Stockings." It's such a cute song.
Current favorite: I really enjoy his rendition of the tune, "Standing on the Corner" from The Most Happy Fella. Actually I pretty much enjoy any show tune he covers.

    3. Marvin Gaye [2,213 plays]
First song: Duh, "Let's Get It On."
Song that made me love them: "After the Dance." Actually the whole I Want You album helped cement my love for him.
Current favorite: I guess "Falling in Love Again." I haven't really been listening to much Marvin lately.

    4. Earth, Wind & Fire [2,113 plays]
First song: "Shining Star," I believe. Either that or "That's the Way of the World." A lot of their earlier stuff sounded pretty similar.
Song that made me love them: I absolutely love "Fantasy." I even choreographed my own dance to the song in the 8th grade.
Current favorite: Again, "Fantasy" will always be my favorite.

    5. The Beatles [1,548 plays]
First song: "She Loves You." I loved singing the "yeah, yeah, yeah" part as a wee boy.
Song that made me love them: A couple summers ago I felt the need to play "Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds" on repeat, thus solidifying my love for The Beatles.
Current favorite: "Till There Was You," or any song from the Please Please Me album.

    6. The Dramatics [1,289 plays]
First song: I first heard "In the Rain" during a quiet storm hour on the local radio station. It was quite soothing.
Song that made me love them: Okay, I have a confession to make. The only reason why I have so many plays by The Dramatics is because I really enjoy the music they use. The lyrics, on the other hand, are so depressing and can be annoying, especially accompanied with the numerous moaning and groaning they're infamous for doing in all of their songs. I don't really listen to songs for the lyrics anyway. With that said, the song that made me fall in love with their music, so to speak, was "Treat Me Like a Man." I played that one over 2,000 times within a month (back before I even had last.fm). I actually wore out the CD.
Current favorite: I'm not really sure about my current favorite because I haven't really listened to much of them lately. I guess I'll just say, "Get Up & Get Down." That's one of the few positive songs they have.

    7. Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell [1,236 plays]
First song: "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." I don't really have an interesting story to tell about this one.
Song that made me love them: "You're All I Need to Get By."
Current favorite: I'm not sure about a current favorite for this one, either. That seems to be somewhat of a motif for most of my top 10 artists. I'll just go ahead and say, "Your Precious Love," because it's the song by them I've heard most recently.

    8. Bobby Vinton [1,099 plays]
    First song: "Blue Velvet."
Song that made me love them: "Blue Velvet." It's the only song of his that I especially like. I actually don't know how I managed to have so many plays from him because most of his songs sound the same.
    Current favorite: Again, "Blue Velvet."

    9. Teena Marie [938 plays]
First song: This is an interesting question for me. Teena Marie is one of my mother's all-time favorite artists, and as a result her music was heard almost non-stop all throughout the house when I was younger. I think the first material I heard from her was either from the Naked to the World album or Ivory. I especially remember my mother wearing out her Ivory cassette tape, with "Here's Looking at You," "The Sugar Shack," "Mr. Icecream," and "If I Were a Bell" being the main songs played.
Song that made me love them: "Cassanova Brown" was one of my favorites because it's so beautifully arranged.
Current favorite: I don't have a single current favorite song at the moment. My favorite albums by her right now are Irons in the Fire and Ivory.

    10. Tammi Terrell [891 plays]
First song: "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" with Marvin Gaye. After that, I started getting into her other duets with Marvin only to discover most of them were originally solo songs recorded by her, and either had Marvin's vocals dubbed in or were re-recorded with Marvin.
Song that made me love them: "What a Good Man He Is" made me really appreciate her solo efforts.
Current favorite: "All I Do Is Think About You."

    Just a greatest hits compilation.

    6. What is your favorite song by 50? [The Temptations]
It's a tie between "Get Ready" and "I Can't Get Next to You."

    7. Is there a song by 39 that makes you sad? [Rick Astley]
Are you kidding? He's the Clay Aiken of the 80's! Why would he release anything that would make anyone sad?

    8. What is your favorite song by 15? [Corinne Bailey Rae]
It's a tie between "Breathless" and "Call Me When You Get This." I really wish she'd release another album.

God, I don't even know! I love pretty much everything they've released up to 1966.

    10. Is there a song by 6 that makes you happy? [The Dramatics]
Probably "Ocean of Thoughts and Dreams." Usually their other stuff is so long and depressing.

    11. What is the worst song by 40? [New Kids on the Block]
I can't pick just one. Their entire "Face the Music" album was awful.

    12. What is your favorite song by 10? [Bobby Rydell]
    "Wild One" makes me happy.
