It's the height of flattery to be associated with Doc Ellis in the mind of hbeejay, breau. This'd be a helluva a time for the M's to remember how to win. The Sox have a time-horrored tradition of brutal August West Coast trips, though, so I'm gonna cross my fingers. I'll definitely check-out the Joe Clausell. Why don't you tap that voluminous mental dB of yours for the sake of my "Jazz-U-Abhà" playlist?

I think I found that Joe Clausell on Rdio? Mix the Vibe Series?

Dude, you're right, it's unavailable now. I found it in my collection but can't play it anymore! I've been getting lots of updates for Rez shows around the country, I think he's been busy gigging. Maybe he'll be in Seattle? The only Bridgeport product I'm familiar with is the IPA. I'll look out for the Kingpin...I've had some good imperial reds / double reds lately. Things are good, thanks. Can't wait for the European Champions League final on the 28th. How bout you bro?

Yeah bro! haha... I guess I've racked up quite a few listens.. I had been preparing for the new one by in depth re-listens to "Prelude: for Cora" also, so.. yep pretty into it right about now. Champions League quarter finals this month bro!

Yo, man - the long-awaited Far Out Recordings debut on rdio has finally happened! I just greedily stuffed myself with the offerings and it seems like the complete catalog. I'm off to Ipanema in my mind for a while, dude!

Despite all the good things both you and John McCole have said about the Greenleaf subscription, I have yet to do it. One of these days... BtW, really enjoyed both the Binney and the McCaslin. I liked the new Binney better than Aliso. What about you?

My kid's third birthday required sanity music. The jumpy house was rockin' to all the Fania hits!! Hope you are well. Talk soon. -t!!

Right-o, man! Thanks for the Binney/McCaslin tip - I'm running the MOG mobile-app these days so I'll make sure to get 'em both in the queue.

Dude, did you see that shit yesterday? Champions League soccer... Arsenal vs. Barcelona? It was crazy. These are the only two teams that I make sure to watch whenever I can... it was awesome. Good thing I was home alone because I just about lost my voice. Did you get around to brewing that beer? My latest, and first all grain batch, has been bottled for about 5 days now. Need another 5 before it's fully carbonated... I can't wait. It tasted great when I bottled it, that's always a good sign! Hope you're well bro!

Thanks for the tip, man - I was MOGging just a few minutes ago, so I'll get back in there for the Marcos Valle. As for finding people in 8tracks, I'm not sure how you look for people. I'm co-following Cody and LonesomePete, who each have numerous followers, so link to them from me and you'll probably note a number of familiar names. The best way to search in 8tracks is for a band: when somebody's mixing esoteric enough stuff, you know that there's more gold in them thar' hills.

Brad, you should meander over to 8tracks to get a load of Cody's "Rewind Selector:A Decade Of Earworms" mix. It will really turn you on, man.

Yo Brad! I am still around! Mostly lurking on RDIO and listening in your (and the old crew's) musical effluvia. Some good stuff. I just can't seem to get in to the RDIO blurbing. I find it disjointed and difficult to follow. How have you been? All is well here. Listening to some alt. rock lately as you can see from my feed. Still digging the jazz and african music blogosphere and exploring some of that stuff....Hope you are well. Talk soon. -t!

A few weeks back, Tod Nelson made a reference to being on a "vision quest" while gradually/publicly compiling a playlist inspired by the new Anika record which had him captivated, pulling in songs of which the record reminded him one-by-one. popsilly fell in love with the concept and not only built her own on Talk Talk's "Laughing Stock," which was then new to her but evocative of so many other records. Well, you know the rest: popsy inspired numerous people to follow suit and myself succumbed eventually (choosing Pere Ubu's Hearpen singles as my fodder). Nobody has deeply plumbed the jazz/funk/soul/nu-grooz veins in a way that you are uniquely equipped to, though, dude. I personally think you'd be doing a service to rdiodom to join the parade. Tod has compiled a playlist that links out to the various "quests" if you'd wanna see how this musical sweat-lodge experience has inspired others: http://www.rdio.com/#/people/todnelson/playlists/47316/The_Vision_Quest_Project/

Thanks, dude - I'm totally loving the Esther Phillips version as I write. With only about 200-ish of the 1,116 times TGFI is included in rdio's catalog being returned in a search, I can't help but suspect that there's many other cool versions to be heard. What I got my hands on makes for a pretty fun and diverse playlist, though. Speaking if playlists, man, you (and Jared [I know you're out there, breau…]) should try your hands at this "vision quest" thing - just pick a record you really love, then free-associate (peecedents, influences, odd-ball left-field turns) based on a handful of tracks.
