I already do a mean Walter Brennan imitation. And I still have the cane from when my back went out. Bib overalls, here I come. I like to plan ahead!

I missed the Goodman concert. It's weird. I never EVER liked big band music until I moved out here. And, then, it took me a while. I got a CD compilation for no good reason - except that I hated New Wave 80s stuff - and liked it. Then, I got another. Then, a classical music CD club started offering Big Band collections. Then, I bought a collection of Depression Era songs. It's mushroomed since then. It's just nice to listen to. Sort of a mental WayBack machine, I guess. We didn't have it playing in the house when I was growing up so I guess it's basically the soundtrack to what I THINK the world would have been like during my parents and grandparents day. I mean, the Dorseys were the original house band for Jackie Gleason and a lot of these acts would be on the tube when I was growing up but they never really "rocked out" like they did on vinyl. I saw and heard them but didn't appreciate it. Next on my list? A better appreciation of mimes. Happy Easter!

Mr. Bowlly is happily in my library with thirty something plays. The tune you remember is called "My Canary Has Circles Under His Eyes." (They don't write 'em like that, anymore. Perfect fit for Ozzie O., too.) Sophie Tucker did a version of it, as well. I really love the old jazz, big band stuff. Some of the blues from the early 1920s is great, as well. They have a tag floating around here along the lines of "slightly streamable artists" that actually has old cylinder recordings! Now, THAT's nostalgia.

If you want to have fun, listen to some of the stuff from the 20s and 30s. WOW! On behalf of D. Bunny, J. Christ, and M. Python, have a Happy Easter and always look on the bright side of life.

Wow, Harryslast, you certainly do rock! I'm a bit concerned about Spencer Davis, but... You're right about ednaha...he's hilarious! Maybe he'll shout at me sometime. Thanks for the last.fm tip.
