Descrizione

Most personal descriptions composed by the subjects themselves usually tend to give an impression of what that person aspires to be, or merely of something they think they are expected to be. Therefore one should tread most carefully when reading such emotionally-charged musings. A trap, a trick, even an outright lie lurks upon your very soul by every proceeding word and takes you by surprise in the dead of the night. It doesn't matter how unintentional or with noble intentions such deceitful words are uttered. Friendships, alliances, nations, and even marriages are founded on such untruths.

That being said, I might share a few carefully-placed untruths with you, since the title entitles this part to be about me. I might be a male according to my birth-assigned gender with a flexible notion on sexuality, which is rather common for a liberal non-religious westerner in the 21st century. I might be such a particular male in his late twenties, doused from an early age in contemporary pop culture and oppressive mass-consumerism. Therefore I might also be a prime example of the pessimistic sarcasm and nihilism that is formed as a coping mechanism in the surrounding bleak reality. This somewhat inherited outlook manifests regardless of a variety of privileges enjoyed by me that majority of global population is devoid of, namely blonde Caucasian ethnicity, nationality that practically no one hates, upbringing in an intact middle-class family, and state-supported academic education.

Regardless of this background, I might still be an almost-stable individual that strives to be a devoted partner of a wonderful human being, and a father of a dribbling little sprout of a man. I might also have two irritating flatmates, who have incarnated in their current lives as felines that were abandoned, and subsequently adopted to the household I find myself living in, in a country foreign to me. There is a strong possibility that I am a supporter of a variety of causes and politics that are commonly considered to be progressive, and that I am deeply concerned by the state of our environment and involved in grassroots actions to have a positive impact in the world we live in. I might even have studied a degree in the field and consider myself to be a deep-ecologist. Apart from my naturalistic-scientific worldview I might still manifest some agnostic tendencies and have a deep respect for perennial philosophies, particularly Buddhism and Heathendom. All in all, "untruth is to be recognised as a condition to life," said Nietzsche already in his heyday.

Know that life is worthless unless it is lived in the very teeth of death, that peace is nothing except as a fleeting moment in the midst of war, that love is empty save as a transitory oasis in a world of violent hatred, that to create is only meaningful in order to destroy. – Robert DeGrimston
Map your own position with the Political Compass. Note that ecocentrism is utterly ignored since the site is conventionally anthropocentric. You can also generate a nifty certificate where I managed to locate myself in the crotch of Gandhi.

I prefer to exchange verbal niceties and relish in mutual admiration before sending or accepting any friend requests. Otherwise you are just coldly ignored and we lead our miserable lives on separate paths just like before, and our hearts won't ever rejoice at the sight of each others charts again.

Before we assume our respective roles, in this enduring drama, just let me say that when these frail shadows we inhabit now have quit the stage we’ll meet and raise a glass again together in Valhalla. – Clinton Sternwood
