Soundwave was awesome, despite that darned heat. Devin playing 'Of Blood and Salt' with Gojira for the first time ever was definitely the highlight of the day. Perth exclusive, who would have thought :P Devin himself was in great form though, didn't catch all of his set, but he sounded as good as ever. Also saw Meshuggah and Paradise lost, both great as well, and Mastodon, who were a tad disappointing. Watain was interesting too. My bones are still recovering though, but that's okay !

Cathedral and Mastodon clashes in Bris and Syd, Watain-Devin and SOAD all clash too. Could be worse, but hoping Perth is a tad better . Leviathan, awesome album that, one of my favourtes.

Got an offer from people I used to live on uni campus with. Pretty good I'd say, better than moving in with randoms! So how are things in your world at the moment?

You aren't too far away from 100k plays either. That's a fairly good effort :P

Renting up here, family is back down south in Bunbury. I'd prefer to live away from home, even if it is unfortunate for my bank account! $161 is pricey for one band, but there are quite a few other good bands there, like Gojira, Watain, Meshuggah that would make it more than worth it for me, though I can't say the same for yourself, I'm sure there would be something else there that you will like and discover. Better than last year's lineup by a mile I'd say.

I agree. I can't understand how people can only listen to metal or one style of music. My moods are too varying for that, as most people's should be . Tonight for example, is the night of much more mellow music. Holidays have been good, christmas was good and all. Nearly over though, uni is starting next week and I have to move then as well. Talk about everything coming at once :o Yep, Devin is definitely playing at Soundwave, one of the reasons I want to go, even if I have seen him before. It would be your first time seeing him live if you were to go, if I recall correctly? I haven't actually got my ticket yet, waiting for any sideshow announcements, and besides, cash strapped atm :s

I'm actually in my final year of uni, this is just my first in Perth. I know what you mean, job hunting has been something I have been doing as well. Damn bastard of a thing it is in this economy. Have you listened to the new Devin Townsend albums yet?

They hide those friend requests fairly well :/ I've settled in quite well for the most part, everything uni wise is going well. It has been nine months already, time flies. . How have you been travelling sir?

I agree, They need a notification thing at the top of the page in my opinion, not everyone goes onto the home page, as you said! Did you get around to listening to Summoning?

    5 Feb 2011 Rispondi
  • Zarrix

I agree, that is the reason why he is so good, all sorts of weird things he tries comes off. That is the benefit of having your own record label though, it is just whatever comes to his mind. For Summoning, I'd say Minas Morgul is a great place to start, and it's my favourite, then after that, Let Mortal Heroes Sing your Fame isn't all that far behind. Let me know what you think,I think that they are one of those bands that either you really like, or not at all.

Ah nice, I know a couple of others doing computer science at Murdoch. The Hummer came out in 2006, but not a lot of fans know about it. Probably because it is a complete departure from his other work. It's an ambient album. A very good album though. Also there is the 'Devlab' album which is similar in a number of ways, but it's somewhat darker. I guess it feels fairly good finding out about two albums from one of your favourite artists that you never knew about :P

Oh no way... I would have skipped the graduation ceremony just about, haha. What did you do at uni? I'm currently half way through an accounting degree, inspiring indeed. Devin was one of the greatest nights though for sure. Good news though, he should be returning following the release of Ghost and Deconstruction, so keep an ear out towards the end of this year. Provided I have the funds, I'll certainly be going again. I would have to agree with you with the roundabout too, sadly :P.

yeah, I'm in Bunbury at the moment, can't wait to get out of here, such an uninteresting place. If you have passed by here, you probably know what I mean :P. I think that is how I came to like a lot of my favourites, especially Tool and GYBE. Listened to them one day, disregarded them probably because I wasn't really in the mood, listened again a while down the track and I was wondering how I missed such excellence. Do you tend to attend many gigs? I travelled up for a few of the bigger tours last year, including Devin, which was an awesome night, even if my ears were ruined for about a week afterwards.

I thought Cog would be to my liking as well, but I just didn't warm to them. You get that I guess. Devin gets blasted through my headphones/ speakers everyday, Accelerated Evolution is another great album by the man. As for Haggard, never heard of them, so I will have to give them a listen. I see you are also in the Perth group, do you hail from there? I'm making the move to the city next month for my studies.

Nice work, First two were right, third one is Empires Fall by Primordial (a band which I recommend you check out if you haven't already) the last one is H. by Tool. But yes, quite impressive indeed. I'm always looking for new bands, has there been an album that has pleased you lately that you think I should give a listen to?

The album consists of only three titles, and be named: "I walk among you" from 2008. You can listen the Barlow version here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Vhj5V57DZA. I mean that's a different power and I can never sit still when I hear it....!!!!! You MUST headbang!!! hahaha Tell me your opinion if you heard it.....

I have both versions of "The Clouding". Owens can also sing very well, but the version with Barlow - I believe - to be the more powerful! I was very glad when he came back to Iced Earth! It is often so, that's when a singer is genius and leaves the band, the new singer has a very hard time.... Owens is also excellent, but he is best with his own band, because for me he could replace either Barlow, nor Judas Priest! But this is a matter of taste....
