As I am in no way a student, much less an analyzer, of music, I will preface this shenanigan by saying that it is 100% a labour of LOVE. I LOVE ZAPPA. I don't know how much more plainly I can state it.
Formalities aside, I give you the anal-lices you've always begged for in such a sweaty way:
What gnarlyhotep Thinks of the Zappa Song "Transylvania Boogie"
It has four layers.
Your Typical Zappa Genuis Guitar Solo, on top of
Your Typical Ian Underwood Genius Keyboard Accompaniment, on top of
Max Bennet's Seriously Solid Bass Line, on top of
Aynsley Dunbar's 1000HP Drum Engine
It is nothing less than a well-oiled, well-rehearsed, immensely talented machine. But then I'm WAY biased. :-)
I picked this one because it's got only those four guys playing, and it's a wonderful example of what a small band can do, at least as long as that band is super-talented. ;-)
Rock on, kids.
