Diamonds

Hello,

I think last week marked a slight change in my listening habits, because I heard a few artists for the first time. You’ll see that and more in this

Last week in covers:

Noteworthy:
> Ghosts : “nostalgic” is the word that comes to my mind, when I think of this band - even though it’s been just a few years ago when their music made me a fan.
> Mumford & Sons : new band (for me). I’m quite interested to get to know the songs more. I saw them on SNL and was pretty amazed as well.
> Lena : new album alert. Yes, that German pop sensation who made our country win the Eurovision Song Contest (for a long time) is back with a new musical style. And it’s not that much mainstream, which I think is brave. Her single “Stardust” recently proved that this might have been a good idea.
> deadmau5 : tbh I love his pop tune “The Veldt” so much. It’s my favorite track from his current album.

Stats!

Most played artists:
> The Killers : new album alert. I continued to take some time to experience the new sounds. And I can still say that in my opinion “Battle Born” is a great (pop rock) album. ^^
> P!nk : new album alert. I wish I could say the same here, but I guess I should give the new tracks another spin. So far P!nk’s “The Truth About Love” is just okay.
> Frank Turner : new artist (for me). Wow, he really knows how to write and make songs. He reminds me of John Mayer tbh. I think his music will grow on me.

Most played tracks:
> Carly’s Loneliness : sleepy time alert. Yeah, so I started to make playlists for quiet moments again. And Enigma is one of the first music acts that come to my mind in such cases. So here you have one representative for all the nice mellow Enigma songs I was listening to last week.

News?
> “R.E.D.” is the title of Ne-Yo’s new album - out in November.
> Dappy released a sampler video for his upcoming album “Bad Intentions” (out next week). It sounds quite epic.
> The Killer’s next single will be “Miss Atomic Bomb” (not the best choice).
> Justin Bieber will release the duet with Nicki Minaj (“Beauty And A Beat”) as a single. The music video features lots of hand cam scenes that were obviously shot a at a water park. It looks quite fun.
> Anastacia’s new album “It’s A Man’s World” will only contain cover songs. (10 tracks, out in November)
> Garbage will release another hit collection - “The Absolute Collection” is out in November.
> Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up” will be a re-release in November.
> The album cover for Christina Aguilera’s album “Lotus” was revealed - it’s pretty basic.
> The new Coldplay video for “Hurts Like Heaven” is like an animated comic book. And it says that there will be an actual comic book based on that - coming next year.
> P!nk’s new video “Try” is amazing. Fights and colors.
> Billboard has changed its methodology for certain music types. R&B songs will exclude rap parts now.
> Rihanna’s 7th album will be titled “Unapologetic”. The cover artwork has also been revealed, but it’s not that great.
> The nominations for the American Music Awards 2012 are no surprises. :/
> Kelly Rowland’s 4th album will be called “Year Of The Woman”.
> “Castle Of Glass”, the new Linkin Park video, is quite a downer. It’s connected to a new game called “Medal of Honor - Warfighter” that is inspired by actual events refering to “real terror” threats. Idk.
> The new video by Sarah Brightman features lots of space images (thanks to NASA). “Angel” is a beautiful dreamy song and the first single from her new album “Dreamchaser” that will be released in January 2013.
> “Numb” by Usher refers to some tragic moments in his life, which makes the song quite personal. The club sounds feel almost conflictive to the video. But there’s also some dancing involved, so it’s okay. ^^
> Dev’s new video for “Booty Bounce” is quite simple - as is the song. It reminds me of The Ting Tings.
> Lana Del Rey’s “Ride” is not only a music video - it is more like a short film love drama. And yes, retro style of course.
> Jedward’s video for “Luminous” features heavy CGI and colors. But like the song I think it has its flaws, as it is a mediocre pop and club dance mix.

What’s new in the German charts?
Well, “Gangnam Style” made to number one, which is kind of fun for me, because I actually like that song.
Diamonds : well, tbh I don’t like that song much (yet), though I like the fact that Rihanna seems to change her music style a bit. And yes, I’m surprised it would have this impact on the charts (in the first week).
