Madeleine Peyroux - careless love (2004)
Great mellow, peaceful "in love" sounding cover album. I especially like "Careless Love" and "This Is Heaven To Me"

Kow Otani - Shadow of the Colossus ~Roar of the Earth~ Original Soundtrack (2005)
Epic-sounding ambient soundtrack. Really puts you into the atmosphere of the
game, wandering into huge empty landscapes…

Elliot Smith - XO (1998)
Dark emotional songwriting, with great arrangements and melodies.

Anna Oxygen - all your faded things (2003)
Somewhat weird electroclash. Pretty catchy with short songs (the album is only 31minutes), you'll find yourself listening to it again and again…

The Stooges - raw power (1973)
Powerful, noisy punk rock album. Fun to listen when you're in the mood for some heavy music, and a rather underrated album.

The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin (1999)
Not as experimental and unacessible as early in their career, but still pretty daring and with maybe their best songwriting. Great eerie trippiness, with beautiful pieces like 'Sleeping on the Roof'.

Cake on Cake - Hymns i Remember (2008)
Beautiful, mellow, sugar-coated music with lovely piano melodies.

The Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy (1985)
Noisy, distorted agressive debut album with a stoned feeling. "Just Like Honey" and Never Understand are pretty great.

El Perro del Mar - From the Valley to the Stars (2008)
Indie pop with some folk and chamberpop influences, this album is less melancholic than her earlier work and has a more optimistic tone.

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over The Sea (1998)
An avalanche of sounds, imaginary and emotions, this album sounds like Mangum is struggling and has little time to get his message through. Within the album's 40 minutes, from the quiet simple introduction King of Carrot Flowers Pt. One to the closer Two-Headed Boy Pt. Two, there are moments of misery, joy, and grief, filled with weird ecletic instruments and great songwriting.
