It really was. You know that Oscar Wilde quote, "a man is least himself when he's in his own person; give him a mask and he'll tell you the truth"? I think it's really relevant, haha. Simon was so sweet doe ): Hey, by the way, do you have any idea what's going on with last.fm? It says I have one new inbox but when I check it there's nothing there. Aliens.jpg

No that made perfect sense, ahah. That's an interesting topic, we kind of discussed that idea in class. You know that scene where Jack first paints his face, and then is referred to as "the mask" for the rest of the paragraph? When he painted his face, it was like he was looking at an "awesome stranger". And because it wasn't really him anymore, he was free from the guilt of his actions. I think a lot the boys went through something to that effect. Damn, I felt sorry as fuck for Simon though. He was easily my favourite character.

I think that's part of the beauty of literature, though, is that so much of it is left to interpretation. The same could be said about art and music, actually. Which symbols are you writing about for your essay?

What killed me was this discussion my class had about rational thinking being a key in resisting savagery, yet the most logical people in the book were outsiders and got killed, or in Ralph's case had everyone against them by the end. And I know what you mean, the challenging part about languages is articulating your thoughts. It never comes out quite as clear and eloquent as it is in your head. Sorry for this wall of text and having to break it up, by the way. Haha.

I dunno, I'm generally a very liberal person and I had this phase...thing in which I thought laws weren't necessary. I still go by basing my morals on empathy and fear of punishment, because I think your intentions when you do or refrain from doing something. As in, not stealing because you'll get arrested or not stealing because it hurts the other person? But I don't know, maybe laws are necessary, even if they don't change a person, just supress their nature for the safety of others. Then I've always believed in good in everyone, or at least potential for it. But the boys all had similar discipline, yet reacted differently. So is it nurture or nature that makes someone who they are, and can people really change? A question that surfaced was what the point of being "good" was if we're corrupt anyway, however cynical that sounds.

Lol I never bothered to do that. I figure I accomplish what I accomplish.. Although I do have to-do lists xD. Not the name, just the quality, apperantly. I know, dude, the librarians are always cute old ladies too, lol. I had one of them tell me a story about how they're allergic to strawberries and had to be rushed to the E.R. after eating them once... Lots of pain.

Lol you have a bucket list? Hehe. Dude I wish mine had that. All the employees are weird and pissy... I would be going to the public library, but the road there is under construction till summer. This is probably my last year going there =.=.. Damn growing up. Lol your Barnes and Noble seems fancy as fuck, though.

I only occasionally buy books too, hehe. To be perfectly honest, I'm pretty sure my Barnes and Noble hates me xD. I'll go there for like the entire day and read a bunch of books, hehe. How the hell did that happen?! I slaved my ass off for P.E. in 9th grade =.= I was the happiest person in the world when I found out you only needed one P.E. credit...

I finished the book on Friday (: I really liked it, it challenged a lot of my beliefs which I think is great in a novel. How about you? How's the symbolism assignment going?

sounds like a great deal actually. LP3 is now on my "listen-to" list now ;) i was overall just going through a tough time, and listening to them kinda settled me down. they don't appeal to me as much anymore but i love them as a band because of the nostalgia it gives off. yea, that does make sense..

you should definitely check it out one day. I have yet to listen to LP3 by ratatat, but i know that i should ;) i can see why arcade fire can give you some vivid memories of your childhood, arcade fire doesn't do that for me but i do know lots of bands that have that same impact. i don't think i have a band that sums up my everyday mood, i might, but i'm just not sure...

thanks! yea, thats probably my favourite album of his, and as for the addiction, i know the feeling. i have been listening to "dead cities" by M83 nonstop, i just love that album to pieces. yes, i do have artists to listen to when i am in a certain mood. i listen to muse when i feel nostalgic because i liked muse back when i was going through a tough time. i bet you have those type of feelings too. what bands/artists do that for you?
