Since joining last.fm I have engaged on a project to rate all of the music on my computer using the Windows Media Player. It has been quite a task and I am still not finished. I thought this would allow me fill in my last profile at the same time I organize my music and make it easier to play songs I enjoy more. It has done this. However, because I share this machine with my wife and sons it has skewed my musical taste according to last. My sons' music is not much of a problem. Their tastes are not much out of line with mine. I like most of the stuff they listen to. The biggest difference between us is deapth and breadth of our musical taste. Mine is much bigger. My wife on the other hand is a different story. It seems that the only music she has contributed to this little project is REO Speed Wagon, ABBA, the Bee Gees, and Kenny Chesney. Lots and lots of Kenny Chesney. The result of this is that it looks to the last.fm world like I am a big fan of Kenney Chesney and my appreciation of REO Speedwagon, ABBA, and the Bee Gees is over exagerated. I don't know that I can do much about it. I suppose I will have to listen to lots of music I like until Kenney drops way down my list. Even so he will likely be rated above many artist that I appreciate a great deal more.
