To counteract the alcohol and lack of sleep, just have lots of caffeine! That usually worked for me, for like 2 hours, then'd I'd fall sleep in lectures lol. Hmmm, skinny might be good in the summer, though I'd want to start working out again; I have no chest muscle at all! Damn, and I was hoping you were planning an daring coup in your anime club :(. Psycho Pass, I gave a pass (hyuk hyuk) when I read the synopsis. The premise reminded me of Minority Report's, which I couldn't stand (just the premise, not the whole movie). What is it that you like about it? Also, Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb was lewd as hell! There's a second season of Railgun? Damn, I hadn't heard about this, will be waiting with interest. I don't think anything will ever top fripSide's only my railgun though. Thanks for you words of encouragement, I think you'll be fine too!

The new year has been mostly good so far, ignoring a few hiccups. No alcohol and meat eh? Is this for reasons of health? I actually did something similar during the last two months of last year owing to chronic bowel problems. Turned out it didn't do very much, but I lost quite a bit of weight. So much so, that I've been trying to gain it back again! Ouch, school sounds tough! If you need it, then go for the tutoring; no shame! Congrats on getting secretary; of course, your aim is to get presidency right? I guess being secretary means you've been watching at least some anime? I've rather gotten back into it with this season (for the time being at least). Coming up to the end of my probation period at work, so fingers crossed, I'll pass. I'll treat myself to a new gaming rig if that's the case (and if not, I will treat myself to overwhelming despair). Best of luck with your studies!

Yep, things are going pretty well! So you reckon Obama's gonna stay on for another term? I'm glad to hear you're finding college OK, and it sounds like you're keeping busy. Hopefully we can catch up when you have a break. Ganbare ne!

Happy Birthday! I hope things are going well for you! I think I've settled down fairly well now into my new house and job. But there always seems to be lots to do and fighting off procrastination is a daily battle (and not one that I win very often). Still, I'm taking things slowly at the moment, and that isn't bad in itself. How''s college going for you? Also, are the Presidential Elections becoming a big thing over there now (though I suppose New York will definitely go with Obama). Though I didn't watch the entirety of the first debate, from the highlights, I still don't buy into "Romney won" thing. Sure he talked smooth, but he didn't really back up any of his claims. As for Obama, I don't really feel like he has a lot to prove; he's been running the country for 4 years! Also, new Hidamari Sketch!!!

Ouch! That looks painful! What are they?

Pen's and pencils aren't very effective though, I'd prefer a metal needle point or maybe a switch blade up my finger. I also remember from the GiTS movie a pair of hands that split for crazy keyboard typing: What exactly is morally wrong with the petroleum industry? Though I certainly think that environmental engineering is beneficial in the long run. The problem with capitalism is that there is no dark or light side; it's just a way of running an economy. GB definitely have picked up with the medals lol, but my interest in the Olympics has dwindled away. Phelps did seem to struggle in the men's relay that I watched, but he's still good enough to bag 6 medals for the US! Had a manic week and a bit, when James had to pull out of the flat share thing, and I had to find a place on my own. I've made a bid for a place I like, so hopefully things will be sorted soon. Stressful as hell though as you said!

Cybernetic implants sounds really cool! Though the reality is perhaps a little different to GiTS or Deus Ex level enhancements. Lol, are you that much against fossil fuels to be against petroleum engineering? I'd imagine the pay to be quite cushy. I have been watching some of the Olympics, on and off. Women's archery was pretty fun (especially the women's team archery where the medals went to Korea, China and Japan lol). GBR are doing incredibly embarrassingly so far but hopefully things will pick up once we get to finals for things like rowing and sailing. I enjoyed the opening ceremony (Scouring of the Shire lol) but I can't remember the Beijing one to compare. I've not been out lately so I don't know much about the traffic, but I can imagine it'll be pretty bad. Also, taking a few refresher driving lessons again. It's not as bad as I thought, but it's still scary! Going 30mph has me a bit wary!

I'm not too sure about being labelled an engineer, both degree wise and job wise. Nor am I too certain about the money; finance, law and medicine are traditionally associated with the highest salaries. Environmental engineering eh? What kind of jobs are available for that? I'm in a similar mind to you about hospitals but having seen quite a bit of biomedical applications of computing in my course, I have to say that it's pretty interesting. Yea, there's so much wrong in this world, that at times I feel depressed just reading the news. I think apathy is the only way human beings can cope with all these serious issues around us. And for me, I have phases where certain issues matter to me (though currently I'm feeling more apathetic than usual).

The combat in Amalur sounds cool and playing another Fable-esque game (that's not the sequels) might be cool. When you're a student, I can 100% sympathise with plunder and booty since tuition fees aren't exactly cheap. Though I buy my games and software now, there are still things which I feel rather guilty about (though looking at the rent I might potentially have to pay does relieve me somewhat of that guilt). Gaydar eh? Remixes of current pop songs eh? poker_face.jpg Yea, I've heard about the Chick-Fil-A thing (from lurking on reddit) and it just seems really silly of the president to make a statement like that. I mean, that could only reduce sales. But if they want to shoot themselves in the foot, by all means... This comes up all the time on /r/atheism, perhaps one of the more hated subreddits though I used to enjoy it. However, nowadays, all that is ever posted and upvoted is the issue of gay marriage in America which rapidly is becoming completely unrelated to atheism.

Ah, yes, my charts, too have been influenced by the leaving music to scrobble by accident. Kingdoms of Amalur eh? I'd heard some talk of it when it came out and the overall impression that I got was that it was pretty generic, but not bad as such. Certainly, the last RPG I played was the epitome of "generic fantasy" (Two Worlds II), which I still enjoyed a lot, so being generic may not be a bad thing (for RPGs that is, I can't stand generic FPSs though...). Also, do you have a steam account? If not, you should! The steam summer sales are over and my wallet is considerably lighter!

Ugh yea, a massive headache; and places just go so fast as well, oh well, I just can't have too high expectations. Oooo, 93 - 100%! That's amazing; well done! (I doubt I've even gotten more than 80% in all my time at Uni). And that's a lotta Utada Hikaru you're listening to lately!

  • thearchlich

What, no! I've not finished Uni yet! Still have my project to do (don't ask how that's going). Got back my provisional exam results though: Distinction! Right now though, it's looking like I'll be sharing a place with James in Cambridge, so we're looking around. Going to do a bunch of viewings this Saturday. Flat hunting is stressful, yo :(

Yea, I probably am more comfortable around guys in real life than girls, but I can't stand them in my chinese cartoons! I will be yukku-chan no more! I'm trying to get some cardio in everyday.

    7 Lug 2012 Rispondi
  • thearchlich

Tari Tari eh? The fact that there are guys in the show makes me a bit wary. Yep, very much so with the Yukkuri days (my face is even becoming fat too). Haha, I'm pretty sure my memory is worse though. We should indeed meet up sometime. Hopefully I'll have settled down by next year. I definitely need to do more cardio, if only to control my fat build-up lol.

Yep, I creamed myself when I learnt of Moyashimon S2! I spoiled myself on the manga though; Kei is such a tease... Yep, those are the Loomis books. Apparently his way of constructing anatomy is quite popular. I hear other names being thrown around too (such as Vilppu) but not nearly as much as Loomis. Yep, lurking both 4chan and reddit now; I get nothing done during the day :(. Axe kicks eh? They sound pretty brutal! Also climbing onto attackers; would you be able to get enough grip? I've all but forgotten Wing Chun by now lol. Maybe I should think of joining again sometime in the future. In other news, I've taken my first real step into getting fit; I went out jogging in the evening! True, I only made it half way up the road before I had to stop, but still, it's progress! The DOMS in my legs is a major pain though.

I've not thought about buying/borrowing drawing books because "Yar har, fiddle di dee, ..."! I lurked on 4chan's /ic/ for a while, in which time I learnt that they pretty much spout "ANATOMY" and "LOOMIS" to everything, so I might try following one of Loomis' books. I can't pretend I've haven't looked at tablets though. If I do get one, it'll probably be a Wacom Bamboo, but the Cintiq definitely makes me drool. I suppose hobbies taking years is the right approach to things, but I guess I've been corrupted by modern media and instant gratification! Video gaming and anime is all too often, for me, a case of getting my jollies quickly. And what techniques are these that you take pride in?

Vietnamese sandwiches eh? I'll try and stay on the lookout then, but I didn't know they were even a thing. FlockMod is yet another form of internet procrastination for. I never really seriously draw on there lol, though occasionally, you get to witness quite nice pieces of work. Drawing in the real world is my goal, but I haven't really gotten very far yet. I've done a few pencil studies of female photos but I can't shade for shit; I feel like I need to start at a more fundamental level. Yep, I'm also kinda being caught up by technical details which makes it harder for me to want to draw. I'm deliberately postponing thinking about tablets atm. I had gotten one in the past; a really cheap one that turned out to be terrible (shaky as fuck), and even if I got one now, I don't think I'd be able to use it much. Haha, I will go for it, but being the realist/pessimist that I am, it's slightly disheartening to know that it'll take me literally years before I'm at the level I want to be at.

Nice! Being top of the class is always a good feeling. I think a difference in maturity and outlook definitely helps when it comes to academics. I reckon the only reason why mature students aren't topping all the classes is because they have a lot more on their plate.                             Oooh, a managerial position eh? You're way ahead of me now! I've only ever been the lackey. I think talking behind people's backs isn't an age thing, but instead, a personality trait. Whilst I don't like it, I don't think anyone (myself included) is innocent of it lol.                                                                                  I've been fine; lazing around as usual. Only thing of note is the amount of time I've been spending on FlockMod, an online collaborative drawing site. I am currently semi-serious in learning to draw (but being incredibly lazy as usual). Hopefully, if I can reach a faster pace, then drawing my own fap material will be possible in 2 or more years time!

I gave "The Samans" a listen; they're pretty cool, but sadly, I'm not into Industrial Metal nearly as much as I was. If only you can recommended these to me 4 years ago! The J-Pop is a result of the Natsuiro Kiseki anime being successful in convincing me to try Sphere. I think I enjoy it more when I pretend it's the characters from the show rather than the voice actresses lol. That said, I've not been listening to much music as again I'm in a "slump" where nothing seems interesting. I think I might need a new genre to reinvigorate me. Also, how's college going for you?

15 minutes is pretty handy! Yea, I struggle to dredge up Secondary school level mathematics nowadays. I guess that's what happens if you don't use it all the time. As always, you have it tougher than me, but I'm glad to hear you find it fulfilling. My project is going as well as can be expected, i.e. badly. Still, I've started to actually do something the past few days so hopefully I can build up the momentum!
