I was demanded to vote for the Triple J’s Hottest 100. I thought, ‘Sure, there’s no harm in doing so. It’ll only take a minute.’ Was I wrong… Took me awhile to go through great 2005 songs and then after that to cut that down to 10 songs. I ended up with:

- Will You Smile Again? - …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
- Don’t Lose Touch - Against Me!
- Bastard - Ben Folds
- First Day Of My Life - Bright Eyes
- Sixteen Military Wives - The Decemberists
- Walk Away - Franz Ferdinand
- Dream Vs. Scream - Gyroscope
- Over - Jimmy Eat World
- Twin Cinema - The New Pornographers
- Walking With A Ghost - Tegan and Sara

What do you get for voting? Only all Triple J’s featured albums of 2005.

Bastard seems to be a really popular choice, I thought Landed would fare better, but I guess we'll see on Australia Day, eh? Also, I'm voting for 16 Military Wives as well :)

It was either going to be Landed or Bastard but I have a thing for Bastard. ;D This is probably going to be my first Hottest 100 since I never did take interest in the last few. It's going to be great!

I haven't really listened to much radio this year ... what is likely to win? I can usually guess a couple of the top 10 but I have no clue this time round. Quick, someone give me some hints so I can sound knowledgable!

Can't say I listen to a lot of the radio nowadays, I use to listen to it every night when I go to bed but podcasting has taken over so I just listen to some podcasts instead. I'm thinking maybe some Wolfmother will make it high somewhere and hopefully Ben Folds. I doubt half of my selection will make it in the top 50.

I've heard that Wolfmother are likely to be in the top ... something. I heard their song (don't know which one, they all sound alike to me, from my minimal exposure to them) on video hits the other day and I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's not bad, it's better than a lot of the drivel that's on Video Hits, but it didn't stand out for me. Not that I can really offer any alternative that is likely to do well.... Ben Folds always does well in the hottest 100 so I'm sure he'll have a few songs in there.
