When i came on this site a few years ago, i found the community here to be delightfully eclectic, each user having an admirable musical pedigree, i'd find myself constantly tripping over new and brilliant recommended artists and although there was there the occasional flavour of the month and the ever present and marred by downs-syndrome Radiohead, this was still a pool of intelligent users with intelligent taste.
However. This is the bit you won't like reading. Upon glancing at the Best of 2008 list i've rather given up a large portion of my faith in this community, with only two or three exceptions it seems to be populated by fair weather tripe that only a publication so blinded by people that look a tiny bit like Noel Fielding as NME could ever openly champion. Pathetic excuses for music like the Tings Tings and Santogold. I just don't see the appeal there, i've tried listening to them, so much, but you can hear the smug disregard for artistic achievement bleeding through the speakers.
Its a regrettable thing, as much as i hate adjusting my hopes dreams and aspirations to the Gregorian Calendar, i hope next year people will see more sense.
Bring on the noise!
