what are the specific connections between Circus Contraption/the Circus Contraption Band, The Bad Things, A Midnite Choir/Midnite Choirand Moonpenny Opera? i know the bad things got their name from a midnite choir song and that a member of midnite choir was/is in circus contraption and that circus contraption and moonpenny opera share a few songs. one thing that makes this more difficult is that there dont seem to be any full pics on a midnite choir, the only pic i can ever find is this one:

and as far as i can tell this guy was also in circus contraption and moonpenny opera (but not the bad things).

but the bad things site also says that jimmy the pickpocket and wilcox were in a midnite choir as well.

so basically im confused. can someone break down which specific member/s are involved with more then one of these groups? and are there any other acts that are directly linked to these that im unfamiliar with? i like to have these holes in my mind filled in..

  • dream

    Dic 16 2007, 5:40

i had a dream last night that i climbed over my backyard fence to find 森山直太朗 and 平井堅 in my backyard, and 平井堅 was playing the guitar and singing one of 森山直太朗's songs. when i tried to talk to 森山 all i got back was gibberish from someone who was obviously mentally disabled. and thats all i recall, except that it was a nice spring day and there was lemonade.

    吉川晃司 - TARZAN[4-11]

Motoro Faam - ...and Water Cycles[6-13]
The Tiger Lillies - Love & War [i forgot]
Múm - Go Go Smear the Posion Ivy[9-25]

id love to address all these albums (that i got anyhow) but that would take forever and who cares. so heres just a few.
    favs:
タテタカコ イキモノタチ - this album was just great, thats all there is to it.
キャプテンストライダム BAN BAN BAN - theyre just some poprock band, but they are hella catchy.
World's End Girlfriend Hurkbreak Wonderland - the man has the midas touch, his level of awesome is at such a high level that its doubtful he could have been created for any other reason then to make everyomne else look bad. im still torn as to whether i prefer this album or the lie land, because the lie land has scorpius circus (aka greatest song ever). regardless, hutbreak wonderland is still one of if not the best album of the year for me. actually, its one of the best albums of ever. there's very little music that i can honestly say i feel i could listen to forever.
勝手にしやがれ Let's Get Lost - i usually hate cover albums and here is a cover album listed as one of my favs for the year. it proves that these guys can do no wrong for me. but god i really hope they dont collab with Koda Kumi or something, then ill have to actually listen to/buy something from that useless skank D:
Grails Burning Off Impurities - i caught these guys with mon and world's end and fell in love.

    the biggest fails:
Manic Street Preachers Send Away the Tigers - i used to like these guys in middle or high school or whenever, back when i really didnt know what they were talking about, and now that i know i think theyre idiots. but that aside, i only made it half way through this album. boring and lame, i was really surprised at the high level of generic.
morning musume - SEXY 8 BEAT - i officially give up on them, Berryz工房 is now the only h!p group thats still active that i like. thier albums have been getting progressively worse, so this is the biggest fail yet. not only that, but there is not one member left at this point that i dont dislike.
Kishidan SIX SENSES - you may be my favourite band but that doesnt mean ill accept anything you do. after all this DJ OZMA sidetrack shit i want an awesome album, not an album that feels like it was tossed together in the individual members spare time.

something i just need to talk about:
Radiohead In Rainbows - ever since forever ive always been blown away by radiohead albums. they always made everything else look like crap. but then i stopped listening to them for 2 years, and during that time start devouring as many types of music as i could find and stand. and now, listening to 'in rainbows' all i can think is 'this is kinda whatever' and thats a shame. i guess radiohead just doesnt mean what they once did to me, that and they arent making huge metamorphosis's anymore. only a few songs standout to me (nude, reckoner, videotape) and i still think the old stuff is better, cause its frozen in eternal awesome and bias-ness in my head. that and im pissed at the lack of 'big boots'.

CDs i purchased this year, 2007 releases or otherwise:
    勝手にしやがれ - Swinish Town
    勝手にしやがれ - Wild Room
    勝手にしやがれ - Let's Get Lost [CD+DVD]

  • i need to start spending less time on this site..

    Nov 10 2007, 23:55

..because it might just be the main attributing factor in my on again off again depression. im tired of seeing people say stupid crap and im tired of getting into stupid arguments with stupid people. its almost as though some people INSIST on being ignorant. the more time i spend here the more unhappy i am. its too bad that i usually cant find stupid people good for lulz, i just find them worthless. the internet also seems to make things seem like a much bigger deal then they really are. the less time i spend on the internet in general, the more level my mental stability seems to be. but that also goes for any time spent with no human interaction.

i want to live on a mountain with no cell phones and no internet. that would be amazing.
  • last.fm immaturity

    Ott 18 2007, 13:34

(if im breaking any rules with this post then i request a moderator to inform me so that i may delete it. thank you.)

theres something about this site that has really interested me and that is people bitching about shared pages. i really dont see the issue here. if your artist of choice picks a super generic word for their name then maybe they should stop being so unoriginal, and maybe you should accept it. understand that no one really cares what youre listening to except you, and you know which of the artists youre listening to, so it really doesnt matter. but immaturity abounds. and although its often lulzy, its more often just pathetic. i could be a bit more sympathetic to this matter if everyone on this site was, say, 12 years old. but the average is people in thier 20's and apparently even when youre old enough to buy a house, have a career, start a family, and become a functioning member of THE REAL WORLD its still very serious business to have your preferred artists as the default image here on last.fm. serious business indeed.

so ive compiled a list of my observations, purely for my own amusement. and boredom.

things said on nearly every one of these pages at some point in time:

    1. referring to the artist that they like as the real one:

"the [insert location or genre here] one is the only real [insert name of artists]."

    2. referring to the one they prefer as the best, even tho theres a 99% chance theyve never even heard any of the others and even if they did it was for 20 seconds on youtube just so they could justify their hate:

"the [insert location or genre here] one is the best, the [random explecitive, often racial] is ghey!1!11"

    3. calling for change:

"last.fm really needs to find a way to do something about this"

    4. general picture bitching:

"OMG FINALLY THERES A PICTURE OF THE [insert location or genre here] UP <3333"
"can we get a picture of the real one voted in??" (double whammy)
"this picture isnt of [insert artist name]!"

    5. using the timeline/statistics (more advanced picture bitching):

"the [insert location or genre here] is still active they should get the picture!"
"the [insert location or genre here] is older they should get the picture!"
"the [insert location or genre here] has more plays they should get the picture!"
"the [insert location or genre here] has all the similar artists they should get the picture!"

    6. here on last.fm music from all over the world is played. it should be a good thing to see all the different stuff out there, but its much easier to just be a pigheaded racist:

"the [insert ethnicity] band is a bunch of f'n [insert racial slur].
^very often the racial slur will be one thats generally assigned to a totally different ethnicity, further proving the intelligence of the user and giving a fine example of their colorful and varied vocabulary.

    7. biasedly insulting someone for listening to an artist simply because the band is obviously not the real one and is simply a group of assholes trying to throw a wrench in the system:

    actual quote:
user1: "Japanese Wink > Josh Wink??"
user2: "hahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaa male,30, nice taste dood"
^it seems that user1 was unaware that ones music taste should be age-based, and user2 has been considerate enough to point this matter out.

the genres with fans who seem to do the most bitching (IN MY PERSONAL EXPERIANCE):

1.metal - many metal fans do really seriously honestly seem to believe that metal is THE genre here on planet earth. all music that has ever mattered, and ever will matter, is or shall be metal. apparently Beethoven, The Beatles, and Radiohead are all metal. fact.
2.visual kei - im speaking specifically of non-japanese fans, i know little of the japanese ones. these fans are often young, very much into whatever is new (flimbsy loyalty), consider themselves beyond understanding and different from everyone else, and are very often mallgoths with nasty attitides and superficial tendencies. many of them also fall into category 5 as well.
3.hardcore - they tend to be rude and good at one syllable insults.
4.punk - similar in their tendencies to hardcore fans.
5.users who listen to music from only one region, intentionally - just that they go out of their way to stick with one thing entirely kinda says it all. many are under the impression that good music comes entirely from their chosen region.

^bear in mind that im not generalizing here. all types of fans have their decent and their morons. there are some genres that just seem to have a lot more vocal morons. it should also be noted for the record that im not being biased and like artists from all of these genres.

random artist examples (note: if you were quoted here look at it this way-you posted your remark in a public place on a site with heavy traffic, therefore you must have wanted it to be read by as many people as possible. im only furthering your goal.):

-pretty much any single letter of the alphabet is likely to have 2-5 artists that have named themselves thus. try it, its fun to see what you come up with.
    -Sugar
    -Coco
-Unicorn (13 artists, for the most part this shoutbox has remained surprisingly civil for a page with so many bands.)
-Wizard (this one used to be my favourites like a year ago, but its not as lulzy now that the vk fans have quieted down. still funny tho.)
-Heart (actual quote GRAND PRIZE:Except that HeaRt is Japanese, so they are automatically better)
    -DEEN
-Dream (standout quote for actually being worthwhile and logical: "The American Dream and the Japanese dream are EQUALLY talented. Because let's be honest, the American dream were never that great. And the Japanese dream isn't ground breaking either. Calm down people.)
    -Red (7 artists)
    -Blue (13 artsists)
    -White
-Sophia (6 artists) (it gives me great reassurance for the human race to see an entire shoutbox filled with whining babies bitching and using unnecessary homosexuality-based insults)
    -Boat
-SIN (standout quote: "Why are they labeled j-rock...adn why is that photo there....they are French..." )
^obviously the one this person listens to is the only one, despite the 6 bands listed. there must have been some terrible terrible mistake.
    -Wink
    -Aska
-Circle (standout quote GRAND PRIZE: "While you stupid pussy faggots are listening to that other shitty circle band I'm listening to the real man's free jazz Circle.")
    -Magenta
    -Meg
Aes Dana (standout quote:"lol fuck you all people who says metal suck, espacialy drfefedebill damn moron we can like whatever we want idiots. If there's talent in an artist you don't say he's shit cause you don't like the style. HAIL THE TRUE AES DANA!
^..i dont have much clue as to what this person is saying, but they obviously listen to the true one.
    -Jude
-Airbag (standout quote FROM THE ACTUAL ARTIST DESRIPTION!: "Airbag is pop-rock-shit band from Argentina.")
-X (7 artists) <-there was a really great bit of stupid in this shoutbox awhile back but its gone now..
-Pink (this one has had some fantastic moments of racism and ignorance in the past. the shoutboxes seems to be maintained now. this one was probably the worst of all.)

just type in a random elementary level word and youll find some. also, common people-names.

and one more issue id like to address is artists who have bickering on their pages by people who dont even have the artist tagged right. this happens a lot with japanese bands who have foreign fans that tag their name in english when its supposed to be in katakana.
  • artists who make my life difficult.

    Ott 18 2007, 8:15

tagging issues that i have trouble sussing out:

is it Unicorn or ユニコーン? is it MOONRIDERS, Moon Riders, or ムーンライダーズ? is it The Checkers or チェッカーズ. is it THE ZOOT 16 or THE ZOOT16? バービーボーイズ or BARBEE BOYS? JITTERIN'JINN, JITTERIN' JINN, or ジッタリンジン? it doesnt help when artists have their name in english on every freaking release and then go by their katakana name. or when the names are technically interchangeable, and therefore both correct.

im pretty confident with ユニコーン and チェッカーズ. on my physical zoot 16 album tho it clearly says The Zoot16, but ive seen it both ways. i really have no idea with moonriders BUT they do have it as MOONRIDERS on their site. might just be stylistic tho. and im still pissed at myself for tagging Akeboshi as 明星.
