• The lack thereof

    Sun 29 Aug – Vampire Weekend, Beach House, Dum Dum Girls

    My biggest complaint was that there was no corn stand set up this year! No giant corn! I really wanted a giant corn with all the fixings :(

    Second biggest complaint was that, oh yeah, Vampire Weekend didn't show up. But that wasn't even the worst part. The worst part was they made us wait and hour and half before telling us that they bailed. Lame sauce, dudes.

    Beach House rules!!!!!

    *Fuck Fleet Foxes. Seriously. But this song is great as toast.
    ** I'm getting more drunk as I make this list, but that doesn't make it any less true.

    As I come to a close, I must address one thing: are we serious that Vampire Weekend came out in 2008? I could have sworn I've had it since fall of '07. As true as that may be, and as hip as I may be, alas, Amazon confirms this release. So I have to give props:

    Super Honorable Mention

    Vampire Weekend, Vampire Weekend
    [track artist=Vampire Weekend]"Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" [/track]

    Plus, fans yelled at Gov. Christine Gregoire to "take it off" as she introduced them at the [event=Capitol Hill Block Party 2008]Capitol Hill Block Party[/event]. Maybe the kids DO stand a chance.

    2008 = great

    Wed 30 Jul – Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, Dri
    Conor Oberst is made of magic. You know what's not made of magic? Neumo's. Get some air conditioning, ya'll! I almost passed out and would be unable to enjoy the most talented singer/songwriter on earth. Tragedy!

    Dri (not " wooo! D.R.I.", that's some random mental band, guys up in the balcony..) was a lot better live than the tracks I heard off her lastfm site. Groovy enough that I didn't get bored.

    Best part of the show: when all the squeeling fangirls shoved merch in Conor's face wanting autographs IN THE MIDDLE OF A PERFORMANCE. Oh wait, that was the most embarrassing part. My bad.

    In summary, I wish I could afford the gas to follow Conor and his Magical Mystery Tour Mystic Valley Band down to California and witness the 3 different shows he's playing in the matter of 2 days. Jealousy, I'm yours.
