I am passionate about Blues.
I was not born with th' Blues, but I got 'em right shortly thereafter. I just didn't know what they were 'til I was in college and (by chance) I heard a song that absolutely resonated within my soul!
An' then I heard Jimi say. "We call this one th' blues ... We call this one 'Red House'... "

I began to buy & collect, immediately. For decades, I have listened, read, analyzed, discussed, & (yes) studied Blues - as a genre, as the socially acceptable cry of people in pain - as a sociological phenomenon - as explanation of personal troubles - as balm. Three decades had passed when I realized: I do not play; I do not sing for audiences. Yet, I am a Bluesman.

I love harmonica (amped harp) and bottleneck (slide) guitar, but never lose focus of lyrics. I love the chord progression, the confinement & comfort of twelve bars, the repetition, the call & response, the improvisation -- the raw, shared emotion. I don't care for 'jump' blues. I feel every song in my library Must be genuine! MUST have merit! Otherwise, I cull ruthlessly.

Despite my 'Blues' passion, I am not a purist. Without apology!-- I am a Classic Rocker by birth; I grew up on 60's & 70's "Top 40" Radio. (Worked there, too.) At least I understand WHY I especially favor bands that found their "blues voice" -- musicians like Dwayne & Gregg Allman, Bob Seger, Joe Cocker, Steve Miller, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Johnny Winter, Janis Joplin, ZZ Top & Stevie Ray Vaughan. I appreciate the fluency (and influence) of Hard Country. Certainly, I am a sucker for emotion-drenched female vocals. If you listen long enough, you will hear a smattering of all those in my library.

I am not anti-social, but I have not grasped the functional benefit of "friends" on a 'social network' like Last.FM. Feel free to Bookmark my library to your Favorites; enjoy my Library! Ask me a specific question about a musician or song, and I will try to answer- eventually. But, please understand: I won't 'Shout' as substitute for a private message. And, I tend to deny 'friend' requests if I suspect someone simply 'collects for quantity'...
Oh, well. I'll probably die alone. Typical of bluesmen.

First Motto:
"Don't start me talkin'... I'll tell everything I know."
