THEY DON'T. Breaking the Habit was written in memory of one of Mike Shinoda's friends who committed suicide. Numb is about rebelling against people who tell you to conform to their lifestyles.

Those two songs SAVED MY LIFE a while back.

Also, even though it's not a favorite of mine, Somewhere I Belong is one of the most positive songs ever written by ANYONE.
