I really, REALLY liked the characters. The story is also very well inserted into the "real" world, giving everything a background (the vietnam storyline, etc), and everything is very well explained. It was one of the most fun animes I've watched in a while. I could have gone more in-depth about any of the animes but I think I've bothered you enough with these wall of texts lol; but I do like discussing anime. Also I hope you don't take offense if I sounded harsh on some, I enjoyed watching everything, but I'm sure you agree that after you watch a certain amount of anime you start getting critical about it. In any event, it was really fun watching those, so thank you for the recommendations =) Going to watch Kuro no Keiyakusha next when I find the time, and Hanamonogatari once it's done airing.

... but it's totally a Batman ripoff of sorts. The whole babbling about justice never made any sense though, I'm not sure what they were going for. So I tried to appreciate it more for the fights, and some cool lines by the characters (most of which are likeable enough) here and there. I didn't think it was anything special, and it felt very rushed - which considering how long the manga is, is unsurprising. It could have definitely benefitted from having more episodes so the story could progress a bit slower. It also seemed like it was headed for a sequel, but is it actually happening? Last but not least (yay!) I also watched Blood+ - which you didn't recommend, but I remember you being a fan years, years ago (I even went back and watched your amvs of it again - they're still on YT!). It also has some easily identifiable flaws and lack of realism (Saya could have died a thousand times over throughout the series) but...

There was even the case of that woman with the shiki mother who fed on her without killing her - so why couldn't all of them do the same? If they killed humans without the necessity, they have every right to defend themselves. I felt the show should have tried to sticked to its initial antics of the shiki operating in the shadows, with the villagers slowly unraveling what was happening to their isolated village - THAT was great fun. But they tried to make it into some kind of phylosophical dilemma anime over a completely one-sided arguement. I enjoyed watching it, but just think it's a shame it ended that way. On a much shorter note, Nekomonogatari was amazing, as was to be expected =D I'm starting to think everything Isin writes is gold. I watched Zetman over this weekend and thought it was pretty cool...

Two months later I've finished watching your recommendations =) Comment might be a bit huge and will look like a wall of text, and I'll probably have to split it into two or three, hopefully you'll have the patience to read. Do you still have Skype or any instant messaging service of the sort? I still have your old address added there but I take it you no longer use it. But on topic: Shiki was VERY, VERY good in the beginning. The aura of mystery made the story very interesting, and I loved its first half - but it took a turn for the worse. I get they were trying to make a point à la Elfen Lied in which they wanted you to think who was the real monster: the humans or the shiki... except there's really no question. It felt extremely forced (especially in the two special episodes) and "in your face" - the shiki took human lives to survive - that's all well and good, but then humans are the monsters for fighting back?

Thank you :D Yes, I'm on holidays atm; My main game has been League of Legends for a while, but I haven't been playing too much because I'm staying at my hometown atm and my internet connection isn't all that great. I've also been playing some Borderlands 2 and Minecraft with friends :)

Thanks :) I found Zetman, but what's "Shiki"'s full name? Shiki yielded too many results on MAL :|

Hiroyuki Sawano has definitely made some of my favorite soundtracks in retrospective... Shingeki's soundtrack is still my favorite part of that show. Sorry I took a bit to reply, had some rl stuff to deal with last week - glad to hear you're doing well :D . I haven't heard of those two animes; I checked the myanimelist synopsys but they don't seem like they would be something I'd be interested in at first glance. Know of any relatively short (10-30 episodes) seinen anime with good mental battles? As in a battle of wits (Death Note style). I've been looking for one for a while but not been very successful :|

Hi Niko, how are you doing :D? Thought I'd post here since we haven't talked in a while - just watched two more animes this week since I had some free time. Kill la Kill and Mirai Nikki; I'm in love with Kill la Kill, especially its soundtrack which I think is amazing, and it was a lot of fun to watch the whole time. It's such a fun and action-packed anime, much like Gurren Lagann, which I guess it's no surprise since the same studios made them. Mirai Nikki sadly was a disappointment, I had high expectations considering the anime concept was pretty cool, but the characters were really, really uninteresting and hard to understand/relate to - at least for me. Plus that whole shounen 180º near the end felt sooooo random. wall of text over

AAAAAAAAND I'm done with all the monogatari animes (except for that short 4-episode prequel series, will get to that soon) - I don't know what else to say, it was a really fun watch, so thanks :) I sent you a friend request on my animelist since I have an account there aswell:

Yes it's definitely different, at the start I thought it was a bit hard to follow, since there was so much information flashing on the screen (that thing they do with the text slideshows going really fast), and the camera angles they use is so different from everything else I'd seen... I understand that love/hate thing but fortunately for me it was the latter, so thanks again. I may or may not have already watched all of Nisemonogatari D:
