Nice to hear you enjoying it, shit's a masterpiece (IMO) and one of my favorite albums of all time, for pretty much those reasons you stated (and not to mention the god-tier production, the beats are amazing). You should check out Section 80 too, it's not quite as amazing and it doesn't have a story like GKMC, but it has some amazing individual songs and song concepts, great flow and wordplay (pretty much on the level of GKMC) and some pretty good beats (couple of misses, but not bad enough to ruin the whole experience).

So, I went through your library a bit and noticed good kid, m.a.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar wasn't there, you REALLY need to listen to it, man (also Section 80, it's not as good as a whole album, but tons of good/better songs to find there). I did check out both (they only have two albums, right?) albums by toe, and they were as chill as you told me, so thanks for that :) I'm planning to check out the other recs ASAP

Nice to see you enjoying some new stuff, glad I could help :) There's actually a new Run the Jewels-record coming out this summer (called Run the Jewels 2), and judging by the previews on El-P's Instagram, it seems to be quite similar to the first one, which is arguably a good thing. I'm going to download some of the records you recommended tomorrow, since I'm busy watching anime, but I'm excited to listen to some Japanese math, that's for sure.

Damn, you've listened to a lot of my recommendations already, any thoughts so far? That aside, do you have anything similar to Mouse on the Keys? I just discovered them today and I need some more japanese math-rock (I've heard that that toe is a good band, would you recommend them?)

You have a point, since that seems to be the main use of that kind of hip-hop, but I actually enjoy listening to it alone and sober, funnily enough :p Glad you're enjoying it, I haven't listened to that much of Del's other work sadly, but Deltron 3030 is ridiculously good (their new album was kind of meh, though).

Nah but I seen a gif or so/Shoujo Kakumei Utena (same director).

There's so much good hip-hop out there, so I just wrote down some of my favorites (mostly modern rap, since I'm far from a expert on the classics) :P Are you completely new to hip-hop or do you have any preferences?

Sure, no problem: YC the Cynic - GNK (lyrical), Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass (super lyrical), Schoolboy Q - Oxymoron (not that great lyrically, but the beats are great and he can flow), Ratking - So It Goes (experimental and grimy at the same time, one of the best releases this year), Freddie Gibbs - Pinata (lyrical gangsta rap with soulful beats produced by the infamous producer Madlid, Milo - Things That Happen At Day/Night (spacey production, nerdy but fun/thought-provoking at times), Death Grips - The Money Store (hip-hop mixed with elements of punk, electronica and hardcore), Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle (classic gangsta rap, lyrics are pretty dumb, flow is great, great production), Shabazz Palaces - Black Up (experimental/futuristic beats, good flows), Ka - The Night's Gambit (one of the most unique records I've heard in a while), Waka Flocka Flame - Flockaveli (if this doesn't get you hyped, I don't know what to do), Big K.R.I.T - Returnof4Eva (modern southern rap, essential mixtape)

It could easily be called mecha then and was in the same time as TMNT was.

Piano player, music addict. I'm fond of anime and non-japanese animation as well.
I'm always OK with random friend requests/shouts/messages especially if you have diverse musical taste or similar interests as me.

Some words about my music library:
  • I don't necessarily like everything I scrobble.
  • Position of any artist in my charts does not necessarily represent the degree of my appreciation for them.
  • My overall charts (with a few exceptions) don't have much to do with my current musical taste, you'd better not mind them.

Nerdy stats and stuff
