Thanks for the shout on our (between the screams) page dude, appreciate you checking us out. We actually released our first material around the same time as DSHS did, we both evolved similar sounds without knowing of each other for a few years.

yeah recently i've been striking a balance between post-rock and hipster garbage. I do well. I tried the band they did a split with, Tangled Thoughts of Leaving or something. wasn't a huge fan of them

I'd also like to point you in the direction of the little known pagan black metal band Trimonium. their second album 'blow the horns' is especially good

i did, cynic ghost brigade and karnivool have received regular rotation the past couple of days. i was saddened the birthday masscre files didnt work, for some reason every time i added them to my library it played a few seconds then crashed my computer. i was also surprised to see no bloodbath on the harddrive

I hear a lot about Aborted. If you listen to them let me know if it's any good and I'll bug Dave for some. Actually I recommend him as a source of extreme metal advice, he's the one responsible for introducing me to SYL and Decapitated.

haha, i remember the first cd i ever bought when i was about 10 or something was a Now! album that had To The Moon And Back by Savage on it. Probably first thing of a remote rock variety i ever heard

i noticed your request to gary for death metal, i was wondering if you'd ever checked out Aborted? their early stuff is heavily influenced by Carcass but they've found their own groove with their more recent albums. Quo Vadis are alright if you want something less brutal, but i know next to nothing about them so i wouldnt take that recommendation too seriously.

I know, I never said it is. I've got the promo they released before that album. It's more like heavy jazz. That said, the first album is heavier on the whole, there's even growling.

I know you've already got SYL, Ted Maul and about half of the others I'd recommend, so I'll just go with the ones I'm not sure about. A fair few of these by insane person standards would be called black metal, Decapitated is probably the best death metal band out there. Anaal Nathrakh, especially the latest album Hell Is Empty...And All the Devils are Here. Atheist is a weird one, bit like Ephel Duath but it's the guys from Death and Cynic. Carcass Septic Flesh (the album produced by Frederick Nordstrom. In fact I recommend looking at all the albums he's produced. He's awesome.). Cryptopsy is one of the few good really really brutal as fuck bands - generally people say None So Vile is the worthwhile one, and it's the only one I've got. Oh, actually you should listen to Alchemist, I've never gotten round to getting an album of theirs and they were really awesome at Hellfest. Also; Necrophagist, Sigh, Mortician, Rotting Christ, and Watain are probably all worth at least a brief look at.
