Heehee, Deaner is a right porker these days isn't he? It is a shame that Gener's health wavers so frequently between great and terrible, especially since he is easily my greatest living hero. Honestly though, he's still brown as fuck despite his ill health and it's important that they still love playing these huge shows to such dedicated fans. If I ever saw them, even if their performance was sloppy I don't think I'd really care that much at all. They just mean so much to me and you can see it means a lot to them to continuously hold that status. I have to face up to the fact that it's nearly 25 years since they formed and they are actually getting quite old, despite the fact that every time I listen to their records I hear youth spirit all the way. Ween, man... They are just THE band for me.

Wotcha Fatty, how're you findin' all that unreleased brownness? Having my first good Ween binge in about a month or two - maybe more! - so naturally it's also the time I go around talking to everyone about them. :)

the recently bootlegged (by deaner himself) 'caesar' demos precede the polished work of quebec with some fucking wicked early recordings as well as a bunch of discarded stuff that, as is typical with ween, is still great. if you don't have the live set from toronto with the shit creek boys then honestly get that before anything else as it's the greatest live set i have ever heard, probably more life-affirming to me than any of their other stuff. the extended versions of buenos tardes, fluffy and i'm holding you are out of this world. ermmm, the other issued live records (live at stubbs, and paintin' the town brown) are both equally brilliant and other than that just get hold of all their demos, b-sides and tv spots because its pretty much all gold (brown). there used to be a blog with all those loose ends in a fat package but the mediafire link has since expired. i'm gonna endeavour to upload that stuff for you, it's essential stuff.

Oh, and as for his other stuff, as previously mentioned, both Dr. Dooom albums are excellent (especially how he tells about how he was ripped off by a sham record label when making 'The Return Of Dr. Octagon' and so decided to disassociate himself from the whole project, and in the first Dooom album he invents a story of a new doctor on the scene, who kills Dr. Octagon to stop him from getting out of control. Whilst Dooom is now the superior character, the first album is told from the perspective of living in a run-down apartment block and hustling for money - an obvious parody of how he was fucked over with the second Doc Oc album)... Also, 'Black Elvis/Lost In Space' is just classic sci-fi mentalist Keith, and his albums released under the following names are great too: Diesel Truckers (with Kutmasta Kurt), Masters Of Illusion and Project Polaroid. Start digging! :)

WHA-*chokes on food*-... Skit tracks better than proper tracks? Whatever do you mean, man?! Personally it's one of the only hip hop albums I've heard where the skit tracks actually stand on a par with the proper tracks in their own light of sheer brilliance! But then again I may have misread you, so you'll need to explain... As you get deeper into the lyrics and fish out his insane beat poet influences, his outer space infatuation and how his persona flew from Jupiter with intergalactic medical science diplomas, (only to set up surgery on Earth and know nothing about humans but still keeps on operating, mutilating and murdering more by the day but having the classic hip hop attitude of not giving a fuck and staying in the game just because he sees himself as some kind of visionary) you shall unlock the album's true potential and it will fast become your favourite hip hop album of all time, as it is indeed mine... Well, I hope so anyway!

Heh! Thanks, I'm glad you agree! He's a true visionary, he never fails to blow my mind. If you've still not heard 'Dr. Octagonecologyst', you seriously need to get on it as soon as you can!

They are contagious, yes! I sing their songs all the time when I'm on my own. '12CG' is a great album. My favourites are 'The Mollusk' and 'Chocolate And Cheese', and also their live album in Toronto w/The Shit Creek Boys is exceptionally beautiful stuff. I'm not a big fan of 'The Pod', it's their most hit-and-miss next to 'La Cucaracha' I think. Everything else is pure brown gold. :) Yeah, I need to give Ultramagnetic more of a spin. I'm really more of a fan of the more experimental freeform stuff Keith does like Dr. Octagon, Dr. Dooom and the 'Black Elvis/Lost In Space' album. The guy's off his fucking rocker, I enjoy comparing his brain to William Burroughs' as they seem to think very alike. Oh man! I've not listened to Velella Velella for ages but they still dominate most of my charts on here. I should give them a spin again soon as they are perfect summer music! What do you think of the new of Montreal tune? As you may have noticed on CaB, I'm not a fan at all!

Yep! They are my most favouritest band in the whole wide world. Every week the divide between them and the rest of my last.fm library gets larger, as I often can't just listen to one of their albums and move onto something else. I binge on them at least once a fortnight I think. Yeah, I recognised your old screen name (because I have an excellent memory for inconsequential shite) so I guessed it was you. How's it hangin'? Also, Kool Keith: Best MC in the world? The answer is yes!
