You won't see Rhymesayers stuff and UGK cause I don't like em. You won't see Kid Cudi cause I feel like fuck him. You won't see Q-Tip cause his new-old album is not a rap album. Eligh & Jo Wilkinson - On Sacred Ground was an interesting one, nice for listening good mix of Hip Hop and folk/soul music, but again, it's not in the list cause I can hardly call it a rap album.

The year of the hugest disappointments.

  • Anberzu

There's still a few albums that should come out. Since you're not a Rhymesayers fan, I guess you're not that eager to hear Brother Ali's new joing. And the Clipse are still to drop, that could turn out to be quite dope. I think it's too soon to say anything general about the year, it could turn out to be quite decent, really. Probably not as good as the last few, but hey, you can't have it all. As far as your list goes, I still haven't put together a list of albums that came out, so I'd have something of an overview. People are gonna be all over your ass for putting Slaughterhouse that low, haha. I'm not a huge fan either, but it could still be a little higher. And I wouldn't even put Nine on the list, that shit was just horrific. I'm still trying to forget it ever dropped. Sadat should probably be higher though... And props for checking out Jim Snooka, I'm a little afraid people are gonna sleep on this dude, and they really shouldn't.

The Slaughterhouse place doesn't really matter cause I have deleted everything after 25 except for several songs.I'm not that optimistic on the Clipse joint tho.Yeah, Brother Ali isn't interesting for me.Jim Snooka is really dope, it could go even higher if it grows on me.I'm a little afraid that people will sleep on DJ Mitsu.

There have been quite a few disappointments this year, but, 2009 has been a sick year for music. It's a shame you don't like southern rap, cause the UGK and Curren$y albums are dope. And Cudi's is off the hook! Check out my list if you wanna check out my tops so far this year. Here's a few you might wanna check out: B.o.B vs. Bobby Ray, The Breakfast Club, Colin Munroe is the Unsung Hero, The Warm Up*, Yes!*, Mental Liberation, Bullets Ain't Got No Name Vol. 3, All In A Day's Work, A City With No Seasons, Say G&E!, BLACKsummers'night, and Back to the Feature*.

2009 was mediocre at best, not a great eyaf for Hiphop, not a great year at all. Best things we're Marco Polo, Fabio Musta, Doom (born like this) and offcourse Godfather Don. I personally really dig Sadat X, but that's another issue

theyfan - heavily disagree with your list(even tho there are lots of albums I haven't heard) but I feel happy and even jealous that you think Brooklynati is perfect and put it at #9 cause in my opinion even my #1 is far from perfect.I'll listen to the Diamond District album and will tell you what I think about it.

Did I say that I'm disappointed with it?Well, I'm not. But yes, by any means DON'T SLEEP on Elevated Ruffs!

Virtually noone noticed it, but Guante & Big Cats! had an album called An Unwelcome Guest and it's in my top 5 for 2009. Then again, you don't have the rest of my top 5 in here either. Check it out anyway though

This is the final list now? Have to say you've surprised me with Elevated Ruffians at the top. I think the mere fact it has around 40 tracks on it prevents it from being even near the best album of the year. People should really start editing more, and put out albums that aren't longer than, say, an hour. Curren$y is too low if you ask me, and you're missing stuff like Blackroc, Clipse, DOOM, Tiye Phoenix, etc. You might not like all of them, but I think they're all worth a listen. Even Brother Ali and UGK, just to give you a better idea of what came out and stuff. Oh, and I thought Blaq Poet was crap. Same goes for Rakim and Ace&Edo. Sadly. Just my two cents:) Don't get me wrong, I love your lists tho. Just saying what I think about the ranks:)

I cut 14 songs out of the Elevated Ruffs album and they made it the album of the year for me. So, I'm not judging the whole thing actually. I just thought that those 55 minutes could be one full album. Currensy is wack. I can't say that it's the final list cause I still have albums to check out. Premo is the factor which made Blaqprint a good album, just like Exile with Boy Meets world. But I must check out at least Cormega, Skyzoo, Cyne, Esoteric, Dudley Perkins, Phil Da Agony, Donny Goines and the Doom album.

Beat Assailant - Rhyme Space Continuum! Definitely worth checking out! Easily top 10 material right there!
