Two weeks ago I was able to attend the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival event in front of the Washington Monument in DC. I saw several groups play, highlights being the Terrence Blanchard Quartet and the Nicholas Payton Quintet. To my suprise, Nicholas Payton's quintet included Esperanza Spalding on bass and Karriem Riggins on drums. The performance was amazing.
