Disappointing. The beats are good, but the lyrics are uninspired. Asher can flow, and he's not a BAD rapper, he's just all style and little substance, at least on THIS outing. The Rawth EP
  • Lazarus - Travie McCoy - Good 1st effort

I was impressed with a couple of the tracks on this album. Namely, "We'll Be Alright" which could be this years summer anthem, it's got great energy, a simple, catchy hook and is top 40 and club friendly, look out for this one. Past Midnight and Dr. Feelgood are also stand-outs. Akidagain, is just WAY too stale.

Oddly enough the album's lead single "I wanna be a billionalre" is, IMO one of the weaker songs on the album. I wouldn't call it a classic, but it's a solid album, perfect for summer. I look forward to more from solo efforts from Mr. McCoy.Lazarus

I was thoroughly impressed. With the exception of a few off tracks (the CRINGEWORTHY Asian girl comes to mind...) This was a stellar album. Not quite classic worthy, but definitely a solid album.

The lighting, the medleys, the multi-media, Jay's stage presence. Everything was top notch! Jeezy, did his thang, and Trey Songz was good too. Sets tended to blend into one another, with previous and upcoming artists lending a hand in collaborative sets.

You could tell a LOT of thought went into this.

I'm disappointed. This album is VERY reminiscent of Badu's New Amerykah. A great concept that never really congeals. I REALLY missed Danger's production on this album. Every track seems like it's JUST short of something really special. This may be due to the fact that it's following Demon Days which was SO good, however. I can't think of ONE song that really stood out and slapped me in the face like November, and El Manana did off their last album.

Honestly, this album songs like the kind of album you'd listen to while high and think "OMG, this is so good!", but then upon sober re-examination, not find yourself too impressed.

    Blah Blah Blah.

Do something new. Boring, uninspired and seemingly w/no conviction. He's just phoning it in, now.Love and War Masterpiece

Here's the thing....This album caught me completely off-guard. I really was expecting a more bluesy feel. This is probably because of some of the material I've heard her sing between the two albums and due to her personal issues. So I get this rockier, edgier sound from her and I'm not quite sure what to think of it. At 1st, I'm kinda digging it.

Then on my 2nd and 3rd listens - I have to be honest; the songs don't resonate with me the way the 1st album did. Despite it all, it honestly feels a little emptier, emotionally, than her 1st album.

Though, in all honesty I have a feeling that this is one of those albums that I'll be coming back to, to change me opinion of.The Sea

Despite the fanfare - I found this album a lackluster effort. Don't get me wrong, sonically this album is absolutely beautiful. It's just that lyrically it leaves a LOT to be desired. Still this isn't a bad album and to prove it, I'd like to present my fave song on it.

I was disappointed. :( It's not that the album is bad, it's just so mediocre, especially after hearing songs like Rising up and Criminal, I was really expecting something special, and what I got was a rather middle of the road Roots album.

That still makes it authentic in a way that you'll never get from anyone else, however, like I said I was disappointed.

Don't hate on me too hard OKP.

  • Here's the thing about Lil' Wayne...

    Giu 7 2008, 4:15

It's not that he's not good. The cat can rhyme, but his delivery is so off-kilter that it just bores me. It's not that he isn't riding the beat well, he's almost riding it too well. He can deliver a rhyme in a unorthodox way but still stay on beat. Which shows talent and skill, but doesn't necesarrily make his music easy to listen to.

So eventhough I WANT to like the cat. I just don't. :/Tha Carter III
