I like pretty much every kind of metal, so I guess it's not strange at all that I'm most a metalhead that loves the classics.

Which songs can you listen to over and over again and never get tired of them? I'm doing a test to see if any of these can last 100 days? If I sometime skip a song on this playlist, it's out for ever. The order I play the songs are random on each day.

I somehow forgot this project, but then decided to pick it up once again. I have now listenend to this playlist for 10 days and some songs have already got booted. But I'm sure that many others will soon get booted to, because there are many songs that I wouldn't miss.

Day 6: Accept - Balls to the walls got booted. It's not a bad song, but I feel like I don't want to destroy this song by listen to it to many times.

Day 7: Nightwish - Amaranth is a good song, but it quickly becomes boring if you listen to it every day. I've already listened to much to Helloween - I want out and Twisted Sister - Burn in hell, so there three songs got booted.

Day 8: Manorwar - Kings of Metal is another song that I felt that I would kill if I listenend to it to many times...

Day 10: Why didn't I pick another song from Children of Bodom? Bodom After Midnight is gone. I also removed W.A.S.P - Animal, mostly because it took me 10 listens to figure out that Blackie only screams "I fuck like a beast" once, and that's actually the only thing I like about that song.

Long time ago I read a couple of journals of people that picked 10 songs that they would listen to in 100 days, and if they got tired of one song then they could just remove it from the play list. The whole point of this game is to find out if any of the songs stands the test of time. Now I thought it would be more interesting if I picked 40 songs, because there's no way that I will be able to listen to all of them in 100 days. I have a feeling that more than 50% will be gone after the first week.

As I said 6 months ago when I did Slayer, I'm going to finish this project god dammit!. I have already done Megadeth and Slayer, so I thought it was time to do Anthrax next. Today Anthrax isn't near as popular as the other three in the big four, but if I understands it correct Anthrax was way more popular than Slayer in the 80's, I remember I even saw them in a Married with Children episdoe (Whatever that means about popularity).

Fistful of Metal

Anthrax's first album is perhaps not the one that made them famous and one of the big four of thrash, but anyone who likes Thrash can tell that this album is pretty good. Anthrax usually do great covers, and Alice Cooper's "I'm Eighteen" proves it. It's also interesting that this is the only album that have the original vocalist: Neil Turbin

Spreading The Disease

One of the Anthrax albums that are considered to be a thrash classic, and for a damn good reason. First of all this is the first one with the kickass vocalist Joey Belladonna, second it got a lot of awesome songs like Gung-Ho, A.I.R, Stand or Fall, Armed and Dangerous and of course the most popular Anthrax song on Last.fm, Madhouse!

Among The Living

Talk about classics, this is by many considered to be Anthrax's best album, and I can totally see why. The album starts with the title track Among the Living, and then it's just plays one amazing song one after another. The whole album is freaking master piece that can hang with Reign Blood, Master of Puppets and Rust in Peace.

State Of Euphoria

Antisocial is another song that shows that Anthrax are good to do covers, but to be honest this album is without a doubt my least favourite with Joey Belladonna. Who Cares Wins is another of my favourite songs from this album, but it feels a bit weak compared the previous two albums. It's still good tough, just not fantastic.

Persistence Of Time

The final album with Joey Belladonna turned out to be freaking awesome, and is perhaps the most underrated album of this band. Time, Belly of the Beast and Keep It in the Family are three really killer songs, but once again Anthrax managed to do an excellent cover. Perhaps it's even the best cover of all time. This album marked an end to the golden era of Anthrax, and something new was coming.

Sound of The White Noise

When I began to listen to Anthrax I hated this album .It didn't sound like thrash, it was more like a grunge album. But after listening through the album a few times, I can tell that actually is pretty good music. Can't blame John Bush, the new vocalist , for this. After all it's not the vocalist that makes the whole band. Give this album an listening, because it's seems to be a love/hate album.

Stomp 442

With this album, Anthrax lost everything that made them good. It doesn't sound anything like how Anthrax is supposed to sound, and I doubt that this album got many fans at all. It's not horrible, it's just that there's no reason to care about this album at all. In fact lets just act like it doesn't exist at all.

Volume 8: The Threat Is Real

I'm not really sure if this album is worse or better than Stomp. I guess it's slightly better than Stomp, but unless you want to hear everything from Anthrac you might as well ignore this album. Oh well, at least Anthrax wasn't the only band that lost the touch in the 90's.

We've Come For You All

I can see a trend that started with this album. When this album was released, Megadeth's latest album was The World Needs a Hero, God Hates us All represent Slayer and Metallica had....um lets save the last one for later... Anyway this album may not sound like how Anthrax did in the 80's, instead it sounds modern, but also great. In fact this is without a doubt my favourite studio album with Bush as the vocalist, and even if he has left the band this makes me hyped for Anthrax's next studio album.

In conclussion: Anthrax has made enough excellent albums to be considered as a part of the big four of thrash, and shouldn't be ignored by any thrash fan. Just like the other three Anthrax had it's dark period in the 90's, but now seems to give us something new and fresh with their latest album (which is 5 years old now). Anthrax deserves more credit than what they get for being a unique thrash band in the 80's.

Oh and The Greater Of Two Evils is a cool album which shows that Bush is an excellent singer, he just didn't get the same material to work with as Belladonna. However I still prefer Belladonna over Bush. I wonder how things will work with the new vocalist.

It's been about six month since I did this about Megadeth, and now I've finally decided to finish this project. For those who don't know which bands is included in the big four of thrash it's: Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer. While Slayer isn't the most successful of them, it sure is the most influental of them.

Show No Mercy

The debut of Slayer is not their best of them all, but it sure kicks ass. It's also interesting to listens to this and then another album and realize how Slayer have envolved. Since this album sounds a little different, I'm sure that this is a big fan favourite, and that wouldn't be surprising with songs like Die by the Sword and Black Magic.

Hell Awaits

Out of all Slayer's "classic" albums, this is the one that I like the least. I admit that the intro is really awesome, but except from that I haven't found anything special or something that I really like about this album. Maybe I this album will grow on me in a few years, but right now I don't think this is anything that special.

Reign in Blood

Yeah call me boring when I say this, but this is without a doubt Slayer's best album to date. What more can I say about this masterpiece that hasn't already been said? If you even noticed this journal then you knew that I would say that this is the best album because, no other album has so many great songs. Beside from the two popular Raining Blood and Angel of Death, Criminally Insane and Piee by Piece are two of my biggest favourites from this classic album.

South of Heaven

It's not as great as Reign in Blood but it's still one heck of an album. This album proved that Slayer can make a little slower music and still kick ass. A few songs that just have to be heard from anyone who got an interest in Metal are: Ghost of War, Silent Scream and the lovely title track.

Seasons in the Abyss

Without this album, I doubt that Slayer would have been the classic band it is today. In fact this is also a big masterpiece in any metal collection. This is a perfect mix of Reign in Blood and South of Heaven, and it got the following killer songs: War Ensemble, Born of Fire, Dead Skin Mask and of course the title track.

Divine Intervention

According to many the previous album was the end of the classic Slayer. And I have to admit that I haven't listened to this album so many times as I've listen to the previous five, but from what I can tell it's nothing wrong with this album. Maybe this isn't as great as the best albums from Slayer, but as I said there's nothing wrong with it, making this their "underrated" album. It's just good thrash music.

Diabolus In Musica

This album totally explains why a many says that they listens to "old Slayer". One of the best thrash bands of all time suddenly sounds like a Nu-Metal band in some songs. I hate to sound like an ignorant Metalhead, but that's nothing that should have happened. Slayer just took some wrong turns with this album, and it's no doubt their worst one.

God Hates Us All

I don't really know what I can say about this album. It's not as bad as many "true" fans claims it is nor is it one of Slayer's best albums. Disciple is one of those songs that you only have to listen to once to remember it from the rest of your life, and the rest of the album is pretty sweet too.

Christ Illusion
What's up with the weird cover art on Last.fm. Maybe they don't think that the origial is to positive enough? When this album was released I had just started to dig Slayers and maybe that's why I love this album a little extra. I don't care if Dave Lombardo has return to the band, this album would still kick anything after Seasons in the Abyss as. Eyes of the Insane, Jihad and my personal Slayer favourie Cult makes this album just as great as any of "classic" albums, and puts a lot of pressure on Slayer to make the next album just as awesome.

In conclusion: Slayer is one of the best metal bands of them all, and they got a lot of excellent studio albums, with Reign in Blood as the best one..

For some reason I wanted to make journals about the big four of thrash, which are Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and of course Anthrax. A lot of people seems to think that either Testament or Exodus is a part of the big four, but I think they never became as successful as the four I mentinoed. While it would make more sense to start with either Metallica or Slayer, I decided to start with Megadeth. I doubt I need to say it, but what I will say below is just my opinion and in no way a fact. I don't know more than any average Megadeth fan...

As odd as it might sound, the first time I even heard of Megadeth was when my former English teacher mentioned that he had been on a festival and saw bands like Saxon, Megadeth and Motörhead. Since I liked Saxon and Motörhead I decided to find out what kind of band Megadeth was. I looked in a music store and found The System Has Failed, and after that I wanted to hear more and more from this band. And it's I feel that I've heard enough of them to talk about each studio album.




Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!

This album is a bit different than the rest Megadeth albums, it's hard to exactly what it's but there's something really different about it. It might be the album where Megadeth is just "typical Thrash" and doesn't stand out as much as one their next albums, but it's a good thrash album, no doubt about that.

Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?

One of the best thrash albums out there. I hate to sound like an fanboy but there's nothing but excellent stuff I can honestly say about this album. Every song is excellent, and Peace Sells is my favourite song with Megadeth. A must listen to any Metal-fan.

So Far, So Good... So What!

This album is underrated. It's not as great as Peace Sells but it deserves more listenings than what it has. Most of the songs are great, but my personal favourites are Mary Jane, The Sex Pistol cover and the In my darkest hour tracks.

Rust In Peace

Is by many considered as the best Megadeth album and I can't say that I disagree. If there is any Megadeth album that you absolutly must listen to it's this album. Don't ask which song you should listen to, listen to all of them, over and over agian. A classic metal album among classic metal albums.

When you talk about Megadeth it's hard to not mention Metallica, a band that Dave Mustaine played in before Megadeth and there are tons of annoying fans who gives him way to much credit for turning Metallica into what it's today, but the truth is that it's the other way around. In 1991 Metallica made the self titled album which was a lot more easy to listen to than their previous albums, and Megadeth copied them by turning their music to more "radio friendly".


Countdown To Extinction

This album is actually really good, but it's not thrash. It's a lot more radio friendly and if Megadeth would have changed their sound nowadays their shoutbox would be full of idiot who would go on and on how they suck now that they sold out, thankfully the internet wasn't popular in 1992 and therefore we didn't have to suffer through this. Symphony of Destruction and Sweating Bullets are two mighty songs. This will also most likely always be their most successful album.

Youthanasia

The album which got A Tout le Monde can't be that bad, and actually this album isn't that bad, but Megadeth have done way better stuff than this, in my opinion of course. A Tout Le Monde is excellent, the rest of the album is okay....

Cryptic Writings

Just like Youthansia, this album is just okay. It has a few good songs like Trust and She-Wolf, but Megadeth have done better.

Risk

Their weakest album. I'm sure that there are some fans who thinks this is the best Megadeth album, but to me this is the third failing attempt to make an album as good as Countdown.. I can't think of any song that stands out, this just isn't a good album. At all.....

The World Needs A Hero

This album is actually an interesting album, because it shows some hope for the band after risk. Mustaine called this album "a ship lost at sea trying to return to its course", and that's exactly what this album is, but it still has very commercial sound in it. Return to the Hangar is great tough, but of course not as good as the prequel on Rust In Peace.

The System Has Failed

This might be a little more biased than the previous albums, but this when Megadeth copied Metallica but actually did something right instead. While Metallica tried to get back to their harder sound with the horrible St: Anger, Megadeth actually turn out great when they got back to their hard stuff. It was thanks to this album I discovered Megadeth, and there are a lot of songs that I like on this album. I think this album is about as good as Peace Sells But Who's Buying and Rust in Peace, I really do.

United Abominations

Megadeth is back to prove why they are in the big four of thrash. Most of the tracks on this album is awesome, but lets forget that new crappy version of A Tout Le Monde, shall we...

In conclussion, Megadeth is a great band who had their dark period, but have showed that they still can kick ass in this new millenium.

Jag tyckte att det var på tiden att någon skriver någonting om Ankie Bagger. Eftersom hennes shoutbox var helt tom tänkte jag att jag lika gärna kunde skriva om vad den här artisten är för just mig, när ingen ens har haft med henne i en "bestäm ditt öde efter låtnamnet" grejer. naturligtvis är det så klart en skandal att absolut ingen har sagt något om Ankie tidigare här på last.fm, och eftersom jag bara har Ankie i min connection här så kommer bara andra som lyssnar på henne att läsa den här.

Vem är jag då? Jag är en ganska vanlig 87a (alltså är det inte helt omöjligt att jag har hört Ankie när jag var liten) som lyssnar mest på hårdrock vilket är en väldigt mans dominerande musikgenré.

Och hur kan jag då ha upptäckt en kvinnlig popsångare som Ankie, jo det hela började förra sommaren när min storebror (född 81) var så glad över att han hade lyckats få barnprogrammet Solstollarna på avifiler av en kompis. Han tvingade mig såklart att titta på några avsnitt, och efter ett tag tröttnade jag faktiskt, då sa han "men Lily & Sussie är med i nästa avsnitt, det måste du se!". Jag hade inte så stor koll på vilka de var, men nästa dag letade jag på Youtube efter att se mer utav Lili och Sussie. Jag kom då till deras "Oh Mama" video där Ankie Bagger dansar i bakgrunden.



Några minuter senare kollade jag på Ankie's kändaste låt "Where were you last night" och kände genast igen den. Jag vet inte var, men eftersom jag har en äldre bror så har säkert han spelat den ofta när jag var liten så att jag minns den. Jag blev genast nyfiken av att få höra mer av Ankie och söka på internet.

Tyvärr fanns det inte så mycket, bara av att Nightwish hade gjort en cover av "Where were you last night" (Jag gillar Nightwish, men sjunga som Ankie kunde verkligen inte finnskan). Men efter en del letande hittade jag "People Say It's In The Air", en annan låt som lät väldigt bekant.

Med hjälp av internet lyckades jag få tag på båda hennes skivor (Tack för ingenting Ginza och CDON.) och kan bara konstatera att Ankie Bagger är en utav de bästa artisterna Sverige någonsin har haft. Det härliga 80taliga soundet kompinerat med hennes lyssande röst (Hon såg inte heller så illa ut då heller, undrar om hon fortfarande är lika snygg, hi hi)
gör att hon är en skön omväxling till allt annat jag lyssnar på. Jag kan inte hjälpa det men jag kopplar verkligen ihop hennes musik med varma soliga dagar.

Ja nu ska jag inte snacka så mycket mer, utan jag lämnar över ordet till er andra Ankie Bagger fans här på last.fm. Berätta hur ni upptäckte Ankie, vilka låt ni gillar bäst och kanske vi till och med har några här på last.fm som har sett henne live någongång.

I'm not sure how old this is, but I just found out about this, and I was shocked to see how credible the top 10 list actually was. While I would have done a few changes, it's still 10 of the best bands that has ever released an album.

Ah the sweetness of Hair Metal. The lyrics are usually about women, sex and pleasures. The band members usually look like women and sings in a very cheese way. Which is why this awesome band just like most of the other Hair Metal bands are very hated (Not that some of the bands don't deserve it) by 14 year old kids who do nothing but listen to death metal in their dark basement. However as many of the "True" metalheads argue, Mötley Crüe is metal! Some of my favourites songs are: Dr Feelgood, Shout at the devil, Girls Girls Girls and of course Home Sweet Home.

No 9: Kiss

You wanted the best! You got the best! The hardest band in the world, KISS! Um wait no this guys actually isn't that hard at all. In fact I don't understand what the hell KISS is doing on a Metal list. Call them Glam Metal or whatever but they are what I would call Hard Rock. However that doesn't mean that they are awesome, and they were very important to Metal. Where do you guys think all the deathmetal bands got their facepaintings from. Heck just look at the loser on the left who tried to look just like Paul Stanley >_>. While KISS is an awesome band, I still won't have them on my best metal list. Megadeth or In Flames deserves to be here more IMO.

No 8: Motörhead

Motörhead is one of the most underrated metal bands these days. Every Metal Head should now how awesome "Ace of Spades" is, but it's a shame that most people stop there and don't listen to any of the other songs, which is why some foolish people consider them to be one hit wonders. Yeah Lemmy isn't like on the most well known names in Heavy Metal history or anything >_>. Motörhead is by far one of the most important metal bands and deserves more credit than what they get.

No 7: AC/DC
Type of Metal: hard rock

Just like KISS, I don't understand what AC/DC are doing on a Metal list. I'm sure they inspired many metal bands, and yes AC/DC might have more classics than any other band on this list, but they are not metal. However if you like any type of hard music, then you should love AC/DC.

No 6: Slayer

I'm not a huge Slayer fan, but it happends quite often that I listen to Reign in Blood. They are one of the big four of thrash and the band that has the most Trash Metal tags on Last.fm. They were also one of the first satanistic bands that got really big, which did of course give them more listeners. While I'm not an satanist, I still think "God Hates Us All" is an awesome title for an album and the album they released this year ruled. No wonder why they got as high as they did on this list.

No 5: Pantera

Have anyone heard of the early works of Pantera? I have heard one of albums, plus that two of the albums they released during the eighties got adwards as the worst Metal Album Covers. It wasn't until Cowboys from Hell that they become the ass kicking band from USA. Their hard sound was something that gave the metal scene new gods and produced some of the best metal albums during the early 90's. It's a shame about what happened to Dimebag..

No 4: Iron Maiden

What is there that needs to be said here? That it's a shame that Metallica actually is ranked higher than Maiden? While Iron Maiden had a weak period in the early 90's (Personally I think Blaze gave Iron Maiden a nice change which was just the band needed, why are there so many that don't agree with me?) the band ruled during the whole eighties and has now made a great comeback this millenium. And let's face it, you are not a real Metalhead if you haven't heard classics as "Run To The Hills" or "The Trooper", but the band has so much more to offer.

No 3: Metallica
Type of Metal: trash metal

Even if you don't even know what kind of type of music metal is, I find it very hard to believe that you have never heard of a Metallica song. The band started as a Thrash Metal band in the 80's with giving the world such classic albums and Ride the Lightning, And Justice for all... and Master of Puppets. During the 90's they released the so called Black Album, which many believes is the last good Metallica album. Load and Reload are two ok albums IMO, while St Anger is an album I won't pick up even if you throw it at me. I've only heard the title track of that album that was enough...

No 2: Judas Priest

Rob Halford is god! Do you understand? Ok then I guess there isn't much more that I need to say about this band who has always been and hopefully always be one of the best metal bands. Without them, Metalheads wouldn't wear leather. Some of their best

No 1: Black Sabbath

Not any surprise at all. Black Sabbath have had two of the biggest Metal Icons as vocalist, plus the vocalist from Deep Purple and they have a lot of solid albums, and were by far the most important Metal band that has ever existed. Black Sabbath is the metal band!

Well that's it, I guess it's obvious that I got bored of all the writing after Metallica. I would say that this is a great list for coming from MTV. While I don't understand what KISS and AC/DC is doing on a metal list, they still got the best bands in the top.

So anyone else want to share their opinion?
