No afterburner for me.
We had sooo much fun these days. The location is absolutely wonderful (both the camping and the festival) and we were pretty lucky with weather, too - it was quite cold but sunny and there was not even a single drop of rain!
The lineup was very pleasant for me - it featured a nice mix of bands I already knew and loved, bands I wanted to check out forever (but didn't yet) and completely new ones. My favourite ones were
- the great and mighty YOB. They played the Great Cessation album, I was expecting a lot but their show was waaay better than I imagined. Just epic. Sadly, their time was a little too short so they didn't finish the entire set (but they *did* finish the Great Cessation). Plus, Mike Scheidt is probably the coolest guy on this planet.
- Indian. Indian is a band that I've heard occassionally on the Lastfm-Radio, so I knew they're fucking scary, but I they were even scarier than I thought. Stunning performance. Probably a new favourite.
- Sula Bassana. Never heard of them before but I'm so glad I saw them - it was different from most other roadburn shows since their music is much more friendly. Super spacy, almost like Ufomammut. Super cool stuff!
- Conan. Dat bass, dat volume, dem vibrations, enough said.
As for the stages - The Main Stage and Het Patronaat were great, especially the latter since it was a little smaller (which I like better) and it was also vibrating like crazy, which was super cool. The Green Room was okay too, but it's a little too high for short people like me and I couldn't see shit until I found a good spot (with no monitor in front of me) :D
Stage01 seemed kind of crappy though. It seemed to be completely free of oxygen, smelled bad, the floor was sticky and the sound was not convincing either (we only stayed a few minutes though). We didn't enter Cul de Sac.
Merchandise was nice too, obviously not as big as Hellfest's Xtreme Market or something, but most of the bands had a table with their stuff on the day they were playing, but some only stayed for like an hour (Tyranny, I'm looking at you).
I also liked that the festival was right in the middle of Tilburg and not in some shithole. AND CLEAN TOILETS EVERYWHERE OMG
