i agree with you whole heatedly Ahmad... each track has it's own emotional depth and it's unique way to present what Steven is trying to convey but to have one "weak" track would mean then that the whole of the album then has a weakness ~ which it does not!... there are preferences to be sure but i get tired of people announcing how inferior a piece of art is in order to denounce genius... in this case, Steven shows us his qualifications as an artist that can hold such a title... a beautiful and emotional creation presented as Hand. Cannot. Erase.

Happy Returns, Perfect Life, Transience, Ancestral, Ascendant Here On... and Routine.. oh my dear friend, Routine and Perfect Life just tears at my soul each and every time.. even now, as i listen my eyes fill as these tracks play out... Routine just gripes at my heart and won't let it go long after it's done........... so it goes.. and so it goes

with 1,731 current plays in your library (not including the additional materials) i believe that Hand. Cannot. Erase. hit home for you in as significant way as it did with me... a very thoughtful, involving, emotional work that is consistent from start to finish

Yup, she is hot alright, that is a given, no need to discuss that more :), try to listen to her old songs covers for songs like: crazy or I put a spell on you. She's got a great stage presence. Steven tol 3moro 3ando el ganb el 7asas bta3o w 3shank ya Ninet 7abet el internet. Yup Cipher is awesome, I know that my charts doesn't show it, but I used to have it in one of my older accounts where I used to have you as a friend as well xD. Did you hear this this is taken from a Theo jazz album where he plays the sax and the flute, the album was produced and mixed by Steve. Ancestral by itself is amazing, Ancestral + Ninet = Win. Hopefully we get an official version of that. Maybe even a live one, who knows (that would be so freaking good).

And after hearing Ninet's voice and how well she sang, I was sad, because she would have done my fantasy good. But again, it's totally understandable that Steven didn't do that, because he would have either had to have her on all the live shows or got a replacement. Besides some shitheads would have said, how can you call it a Steven Wilson album when he doesn't even sing on it? And to those people I would have said, shut up you scumbags and just enjoy the music. Anyway, it was only fantasy, the wall to high, as you can see. You know. :)

Hey, I enjoyed your track by track analysis, much better than my half ass entire album as one piece thing. Maybe we should review music together and call it Egyptians v. Music. So you listened to Ninet's songs? I liked her live covers of the classic blues, jazz and r&b songs. Sebak enta mn perfect life background music, focus on Steve's falsetto "we have got" in the background. :) For me I needed more Floyd-ish screams what is there is amazing ofc, but more wouldn't have hurt. Home Invasions has one hell of a groove and hock you can't help but move your head or feet or maybe even both to it. Theo, Theo tol 3omro brenz mn ayam The Sky Moves Sideways bs keda :D You know when I first knew about the idea that it's an album from a female perspective, I had this fantasy that Steve would get a really good female vox. to sing everything on the album and he would just take care of the music and production. Cntd.

I would have loved to hear more of Ninet, each time she sang was a highlight, and I don't think that she was able to showcase her entire talent. What else I wouldn't have minded more of? The choir, the strings and the amazing and talented opera soprano vocals like what's found in regret. So to sum it all up, the album felt familiar from the first listen and left me felling that more could have been done, but It's a very solid album from start to finish. Now, What do you think, do I have any ground, but you know, mainly what do you think of the album? :)

    25 Feb 18:55 Rispondi

Short answer: I like it, a solid 8 or a soft 9. Long answer, the album seems oddly familiar which is something I'm not used to when I hear Steve's music. I almost always don't connect with the music, find it weird, or just okay, then they take over me. With this album, the 11 songs were very familiar to the point where at parts I could point out where the music is from. To me I can directly connect the music in HCE to four albums done by Steven: Deadwing, The Incident, Fear of a Blank Planet and Grace for Drawing. DW and TI being the more obvious, where you can honesty say, hey that guitar riff could work in DW or that keyboard melody could be taken from TI. FOABP and GFD are more subtle but they are still there. Now I'm not saying he is reusing the stuff, I'm just saying they seem connected. HCE leaves me undone, it always goes near the peak but never crosses or even reach it for me. It's like Steve is doing a ton of foreplay, but he never leads you to climax. Contd. :-)

Yeah, Puncture Wound is the shit! Catchy, experimental, modern, noisy... love it! And exactly - his 70s sound designing/compositional tendencies are kind of a hit and miss.

The numbers are much higher on your side tho :). Well we can still dream that SW would eventually come out with something even better but yeah, it's highly unlikely at this point.

  • HeadShoteR

Why thank you, I guess :). I think SW peaked with this record. Insurgentes as an album is actually one of the biggest inspiration for my own production. I mean it's not like I want to make a copy of that album, not at all, I just want to achieve something that is similarly experimental, varied, well produced, detailed and accessible at the same time.

oh Ahmad, i wish that it were good news but i'm afraid that, from what i understand, the actual pressing of Demon was very poor and the result such a vinyl with a great deal of surface noise.... if Kscope follows their past performance then the rest will also be inferior.... i will be following the process very closely to be sure!!! ~~~ and THANKS for the heads up!!!!
